Prozac, lithium, welbutrin, paxil and experimented with a few others when I was 16-20. Stopped cold turkey and never looked back. |

You didn't have any issues with withdrawal? Like no crazy ass headaches and ? Seizures, etc? |

It felt like I'd been up for more than 24 hours (for about a week after I quit). Very exhausted, light headed and experienced massive headaches if I did anything more than walk down a hall. It was absolutely horrible. Even resting was horrible because my muscles could not relax and were constantly "shivering" (spasms?).
I didn't know I could get seizures from stopping those meds. |

I was on Prozac for 6 years, just like every other kid that was 'slightly unhappy' in the 90's and doctors over-prescribed.
Its no so much missing the drug but the sheer weirdness that happens to your brain that's completely bereft of making its own endorphins for years. Another 6 years on and things are only just whatever passes for normal when it comes to mood stability. |

Pretty sure you can with wellbutrin. And well, lithium is a salt and it affects the seizure threshold, so not only is there that risk - but it affects your electrolyte balance in a major way, which is why you would have got headaches and all that other . You had to have blood tests all the time when you were on it, yes?
Abruptly stopping any of those meds is never a good idea. Benzos are a big one that should never just be stopped. Have to be weaned off 'em. |

I've been on stuff since I was 14 years old. I finally came off paxil last year, I did a 12 month comedown on it dose-wise to stop any withdrawls, which i've had in the past when being switched between different ones. I finally got off it in october but had to go back on in march of this year after being hit in a car crash & pretty much going crazy again. I'm on the lowest dose again & feeling fine and I do want to get off but when I was my brain was going 100000 miles a minute at times & I guess i don't want that to happen. There's one or two side effects I don't like.
On the other hand, i'm completely self-medicating my stomach problems after finding most gps rude & trying to give me lots of meds which made no effect whatsoever. Whilst on this, it costs a lot but it's made a good improvement, not a great one but it's better than it was before. I'm exploring alternative therapies too to try & fix it and you wouldn't believe how obnoxious gps are about that. One told me that I was stupid & being ripped off but I told him the only person ripping me off was him sitting on his arse earning his 40 grand a year or whatever for doing nothing but patronising people. |

Yep, but there are new ones arising that have a longer duration of action which help to minimise withdrawal.
I was about to work with not one but two S8/benzos with Janssen. So glad I went back into CV with Merck instead :toothless |
