ATI is heating up the competition with its new card and anandtech has done a comprehensive review on it:

What do you guys think of this new card? Retailing at $399 USD and due out in 30 days.

I read a full article on this card...
It's sic sic sic!
Blows away the GeForce4 cards...(yes even the Ti4600...)

i want it. i read like 5 articles on it and it looks promising and nvidia cant beat it till nv30 comes out. but first i need to do whole system upgrade to use its powers. i have a "slow" p3-550.

Yeah and the article mentions that nvidia will release the nv30 in 2003....so its gonna be while till they beat ati
Shudder
thats insanity. i just got an ati 7500 8 months ago and now i want the 9700. boo hoo :(
k.k.d.
Yeah, i've been drooling for a couple of days over this one...

Now, let's start a "send uncle kkd 400$" action, shall we? ;)

ROFL! I liked Kyro II architecture. :) Too bad, ATI and Nvidia already had an impregnable foothold in the 3D market. Even the games developer can't even keep up with tech that's driven by competition. I'd say I'd be wasting my money by buying the 9700.

The GF3 and GF4 are average expensive pieces of circuit boards I would only want if they were free. :)

it seemed like yesterday that i payed 250something for my 7500

Impresive~~
now it's 9700!!!
I liked 7500. It is pretty good and solid.
now I just have wait until 9700 goes under $200

i think hardware is growing way faster then the software. theres no games that NEED this much power.

you are wrong good-trip. Software is WAAAAAAY ahead of hardware now... just take a look at Doom 3, this has been developped for years now and ATI 9700 might barely run the game at full detail and full resolution.

Also, look in the industrial-strength video cards and you'll see that the latest ATi will barely be able to simulate a fly in one of those fat ass CAE simulators (ok I'm exagerating just a bit now :D).

If only I had the cash, but hey, Civilization 3 don't need 3D! W00T :) I'm still good for a couple of years ;)
