LMAO at most of the posts here. Shouldn't be surprised though. This is the c0r after all, where any form of thought is lost once the page is loaded.
Anyways the police, the city, province and country all ed this situation up in a very disgusting way. I'm actually surprised that they're getting away with all this . But then again, majority of the population doesn't really give a . They're more concerned getting their brand new revolutionary iPhones, watching American/Canadian Idol, etc. Man I love living in a free society! |

Do you honestly think such a cool thing, like the thing you have in your avatar, would be possible WITHOUT all of the technological innovation brought about by people who have also participated in advancing the technology requisite for devices like the iPhone? Do you really think any of the people you've referred to would be any happier if you had your way? What utter-ing-hubris. They don't want your pity. They don't want your idealized utopia. They don't give a about what you think. |

Nevertheless, it is technology parcel to the use of both items and developed as the result of economics. To decry the people who use iPhones and watch American Idol is as useless and specious as the unabomber manifesto. |

I interpreted him as meaning that it's silly to consider such things as the pinnacle of your existence, especially without even considering the global realities that allow you to obtain them so cheaply and easily. This thread was full of mindless defense of the status quo; surely we can agree on that much.

I understand that, but it's a dismissive attitude which places his awareness above the society's. It also counts the failures without looking at the successes achieved by the society - and transmitted on a network, no less, which also allows for the use of such devices. To be clear, I believe there are better and more humane ways for our society(ies) to exist, but the same slogans, advanced now for nearly half a century, I heard living in a co-op at the University of Texas, years ago - disparaging remarks which casts out all but the most stoic of thinkers - are not part of that solution. |
