Interview with Ferry Corsten
http://www.electronicnightlife.com/

Electronic Night Life and Ferry Corsten recently had a quite lengthy conversation in regards to upcoming developments with Ferry's label and releases. The following interview if very informative. Ferry discusses the recent creation of a crossover label along with Black Hole Recordings, and also provides some insight as to the business aspects of the music industry.
We also inquired as to the recent incident with Low End Theory stealing a track and claiming it for his own. Ferry has some advice to share with all producers and we think you should take heed to his stance on the topic but first let's find out more about his latest compilation - Once Upon A Night 2.
How soon did you begin working on Once Upon A Night 2 after the release of the first compilation of the same name?
FERRY CORSTEN: The reactions on the first volume were so great that we decided to do another one within six months. We received a lot of good music in, so why not?
How is the second installment doing on the charts?
FERRY CORSTEN: It entered the iTunes chart at number 5 and went to number 3. I’m happy to see this! I liked the compilation but you never know what other people think about it. Luckily, they like it.
What is the theme for each installment from disc to disc?
FERRY CORSTEN: Both CDs are compiled like a good night out. You start off laidback and get ready to party with the first CD. The second CD is like entering the club and I finish it with a big bang, when the CD ends. So it’s really like the ideal party night.
How do you intend on maintaining the theme throughout future installations of the compilation?
FERRY CORSTEN: When making a compilation, I am looking for a certain feeling. This is what it’s all about for me. On the first volume I knew that Yuri Kane’s “Right Back” had to be the opener for the CD. So this was actually the feeling I wanted to create and build it up from here. This is exactly the same way I compiled the second edition. Start off and then really build a set, like telling a good story.
What is your take on EDM music videos and how important or unimportant are they to the success of a track?
FERRY CORSTEN: With YouTube being a leader nowadays, it can be important to have a great video which people are eager to see. With a good video, you might even draw attention of a new audience who just would like to see the video and then hear my music under the video. So I think it’s important.
You have performed at many venues and Festivals in New York thus far including Cielo, Webster Hall, Nokia Theatre, Electric Zoo, and Pacha. Which would you say has been your favorite thus far?
FERRY CORSTEN: Very hard to say. Every venue has its own charm, but I think Nokia Theatre and Electric Zoo are my favorites so far…
How was your recent gig at Pacha, New York?
FERRY CORSTEN: It was great. The place was packed and the vibe was perfect.
Who are the immediate members of your team and what are their roles?
FERRY CORSTEN: I have a booking agent who does my bookings in the U.S., I also have one that does the rest of the world for me. I have people doing my management, publicity/press, websites and so on, although I am the one on Twitter! I have people doing my marketing, radio show and my record label, Flashover Recordings. So, there are quite a few people working with me in the team.
At this point in your career, what is your main focus?
FERRY CORSTEN: My main focus is producing good music and delivering the best DJ sets I can. This has been my focus from the start. The goal is to keep the high standard and giving my best.
I heard that Flashover Recordings has recently joined up with Black Hole Recordings to form Premier Recordings. Can you provide any more details on this joint venture?
FERRY CORSTEN: Premier Recordings is our crossover label. Both Flashover and Black Hole are on the lookout for the more commercial sound and that’s what we release on Premier. Also, my compilations, Once Upon A Night, and the FC System F CD have been released on Premier.
Do you have any new releases in the works for the Moody Moon or Aleph Recordings labels?
FERRY CORSTEN: We have new releases all the time. One moment it’s Moody Moon, the other moment it’s Aleph. It depends on the style of music as to what label it will be on. There’s enough in the pipeline.
As you approach the 200th episode of your radio show, Corsten’s Countdown, are you planning anything special?
FERRY CORSTEN: At the moment we’re thinking of a nice way to celebrate this. For the 100th episode, we ran a competition and the winners were flown to my “Twice In A Blue Moon; The Experience” show in Los Angeles.
What are your thoughts about the recent allegations in regards to Low End Theory?
FERRY CORSTEN: It’s a shame that producers think they can get away with stealing music from other producers. We decided to make this worldwide with a statement. With the Internet being everywhere, there’s always someone watching you. So, my advice to producers, is, “Be original, and don’t steal music, but make your own.”
How common or uncommon is it to face this type of situation in the music business?
FERRY CORSTEN: Luckily, it’s the first time we were confronted with this and if we had known this beforehand, we would never have released this track, of course.
Do you feel that many music labels will begin merging in the future?
FERRY CORSTEN: I don’t know, really. You see that some labels give away their handling with portals and licensing but doing their own A&R. That’s the most important thing, a good A&R department, so the high standard will be maintained.
Can you explain some of the reasons why this occurs and what the benefits would be?
FERRY CORSTEN: The benefits can be that you can hire less people or have more time to do other things that are important for the label or the DJ you work for. It’s important to keep the focus.
What else do you have going on at the moment? Anything you can share with us?
FERRY CORSTEN: I am in the studio as much as I can be, working on my new album that will be released in 2011. So that’s very exciting, as always. I’m also trying out some new styles of music and thinking of new ideas.

Special Feature: Goldenscan Reunion Interview
http://www.electronicnightlife.com/

The recent reunion of uplifting trance production group Goldenscan has attracted the attention of classic trance lovers all over the world. Goldenscan’s quality trance productions were timeless and were never forgotten, even through their absence. The track Sunrise, that is a personal favorite of mine has often been touted as one of the best classic trance tracks of all time. It is with great pleasure that we present you Electronic Night Life’s special reunion interview with Goldenscan.
I am so excited to hear you are getting back into production. Talented trance producers are always welcome in the scene.
What have you both been doing during the course of your hiatus?
Goldenscan: Loads of stuff unrelated to music really. We both felt that we needed a bit of a break, most people wouldn’t know but both of us have been writing and releasing stuff since 1993 under various names and guises. We both set up businesses outside of music and now things are going well on that front it means we can come back to writing music for the love of writing music, not because we need to pay the bills with it – a much nicer place to be.
Were you still working on music as a hobby at all?
Goldenscan: Yeah, we both still kept a hand in. I (Ed) worked on quite a bit of film sound and stuff like that also.
What inspired you to make a comeback?
Goldenscan: There seemed to be an overwhelming feeling of finishing what we started and also the fact that we were being contacted by a lot of people all of a sudden asking where we were.
Was it difficult to convince the other members to re-unite?
Goldenscan: Not at all, Me & Mark are very good friends, we see each other all the time. In fact we started Goldenscan because we had said for years that we would do something together and were never getting round to it. I think the conversation went something like this:
Mark “we should start writing again”
Ed “yeah, why not”
Mark “when’s good for you”?
Ed “Wednesday”
Mark “OK, see you then”
What are you plans now that you are back in the scene?
Goldenscan: We are taking our time in the studio, we don’t want to get caught in the trap of just releasing single after single again. Although we have been back in the studio for a few months now we are really honing our sound before we release material again. We’d like to think that the reason people liked our material was because it always sounded different to other stuff out there, we want to make sure that when people here our first new productions again they have the same impact.
Has your style changed much at all through the years? If so, in what ways?
Goldenscan: I (Ed) think it sounds bigger and better, sort of more rounded. Still sounds very upfront and driving though. 4 years is a long time to be out of the studio so we are working on loads of material at once, when we have seven or eight nearly finished we will then decide on the best three and release them. So far we are very, very happy with the sound we are getting so fingers crossed people respond again.
Are there any plans to collaborate with any artists you have worked with in the past or with any new artists?
Goldenscan: I (Ed) have started a side project with Rob Stevenson from Activa, which is already starting to sound very good indeed. We’ve just about finished our first production and that will be coming out on his Borderline imprint at some point in the new year.
You were originally a trio, and now you are a duo. How does that alter your dynamic?
Goldenscan: Actually we were originally a duo. We asked Tom to join us so we could get a third pair of ears in the studio; he then started to DJ for Goldenscan too.
Are you still in touch with Tom Lindey? Any idea what he is up to lately?
Goldenscan: Of course, I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago and we still exchange emails and all of that. Tom was a very important part of our lives for a couple of years and you don’t just write stuff like that off – we had some amazingly mad times together J Tom works for Apple now and lives in London, we’ve planned to meet up in a couple of weeks when I am down there next so that’ll be fun.
What differences have you noticed in Electronic Music overall?
Goldenscan: I’d like to say a lot, unfortunately apart from a few things a hear now and then I think most stuff is sounding pretty similar (in Trance anyway), albeit much bigger production. There seems to be a homogenized sound at the moment that is being driven by the big labels which means that producers are taking fewer risks at the moment, they can’t otherwise their stuff doesn’t get picked up and played out.
Of course there are some producers out there that are really coming up with the goods and I’m sure that it will all come good again anyway. It always does, these things are always cyclical. We are already noticing the beginnings of a backlash to the generic sounding trance on loads of forums and bulletin boards.
Are there any plans to release re-mastered or remixed version of any of your older tracks?
Goldenscan: Sunrise is obviously being re-released with mixes by Neptune Project and A N other plus a new mix from us. That will be coming out on Future Sound of Egypt in the New Year. I also really want to have another go at Halcyon, I never really like the sound of the mix although I loved the track.
When will Sunrise 2010 be released?
Goldenscan: In February we hope, we are just waiting for other mixes to be finished.
How did you connect with Neptune Project?
Goldenscan: Dan phones me one day and asked if they could have a go at the track. We said yes and then they went and produced that… What a Monster!
Can you tell us anything about the track Phoenix?
Goldenscan: Phoenix is just a working title for whichever of these tracks that are in our studio we decide to release first. But I can tell you that Phoenixes (can I say that?) are all sounding very cool indeed.
Do you have any other projects in the works?
Goldenscan: There is one that we are both having a go at, it’s not Trance but we are pretty excited about it. If anything comes of it you guys will be the first to hear :)
Do you have any other comments that you would like to share with our readers?
Goldenscan: Just that we really appreciate people taking the time to comment on how happy they are that we are back in the studio and we really hope that when you hear our ne material we just hope that it justifies your faith in us. Upwards & Onwards!!!

Interview with Super8 & Tab
http://www.electronicnightlife.com/

Electronic Night Life has the pleasure of interviewing Super8 & Tab. The talented duo have just released their debut artist album and have a lot of information to share with their fans in regards to upcoming releases, remixes, videos, and more.
How are you?
I’m good.
How do you like working with the team at Anjunabeats?
It’s really good working with them. This is the only label I have been signed to since first beginning to produce trance and I have never had a reason to change that since everything has been working so well. We are all friends as well. We have known each other for a long time. I can’t complain.
Your “Empire” remix contest for Anjunabeats will be coming to an end shortly. Have you had a chance to listen to any of the entries as of yet? Have you heard anything promising?
I went to youtube recent to listen to some of the remixes and there were quite a few really good tracks. It will be very tough to decide who the winner will be.
What recent upgrades have you made in your studio in regards to Hardware and Software?
There is always interesting new software coming out. I have been producing for about 20 years. In the beginning computers did not exist so we only worked with hardware and sequencers. Once computers came into play and became more powerful so at certain points we did not use any hardware. Now we are actually getting back to using hardware again. Finding a balance between using software and hardware is the method we are currently using. At times you get a more natural feeling sound when you are working hands on with hardware.
In what ways do you personally feel your styles have changed over the years?
Our tempos have gone down a bit but that seems to be the case with other artist’s tempos as well. In 2002-2004 the range was always 138BPM, which is really driving, and full but now we are slowing it down a bit to around the 134 areas and going by the attitude that less is more. We are still keeping the driving and uplifting tone to it. It also has to do with gaining more experience in production to the point where you don’t have to use as many elements to get the effect that you are seeking.
Do you anticipate producing any other genre’s of music besides Trance in the future?
I would like to but at the moment we don’t really have time. Before the album we were only doing club mixes which are specifically catered towards other DJ’s to play in clubs.
It would be cool to do something that sounds a bit trip-hop.
How did you link up with the talented vocalists that you featured on the new album?
That was the hardest part of the album because we tried not to use the same vocalists that everyone else was using. It took us some time to find the right people to work with. First we found Jan Burton who did the vocal on four of the tracks and it worked out very well. We will definitely do more tracks with him in the future.
Betsie Larkie did a remix with Ferry Corsten and we really liked that track a lot. She actually contacted us. Julie did a track that was released on Anjunabeats and we liked it a lot. We also worked with Alyna who is my wife, so sometimes you don’t have to search too far. She did a great job on the track Perfect Day.
Infurushi, and Empire were already released as singles. Which track off the album will be the next single release?
The next singles will be the remixes of Empire. The next after that will be My Enemy with Julie Thompson.
Will you be seeking any additional remixers for future singles?
Yes. For the track My Enemy a Rank 1 remix will be released as well as a club mix by us which will have an old skool vibe. On that track we will go back into those higher tempos. There will be something for everyone in that release pack. I believe a few more singles from the album will follow.
Who directed the music video for your latest single “Empire”?
It was Ian Gamester from the UK. We received scripts from a few different directors but when we received his we really liked the story line. We selected him to do it and he did very well. It turned out better than we thought it would. We are very happy with the video.
Did anything interesting happen during filming?
I don’t know because we were not featured in the video.
I heard that you would stop in North America on your upcoming tour in December. Might New York be one of the cities you visit?
At the moment New York is not included. We are going to San Fransico, Miami, and a few other stops.
**EDIT: New York is now included... They will be at Cielo on Thursday February 24th, 2010
Are you excited for the official album launch party at Virgin Oil in your hometown of Helsinki, Findland?
We definitely are! We already had one album launch party at Ministry of Sound in London. It was great. The upcoming launch party will be even more emotional for us because this is our hometown and many of our friends will be in attendance. A lot of people that we have been working with though the years will be there as well. Jan Burton will be in attendance as well as our manager. It will be huge.
What can your fans expect from the show?
We will be playing quite a few tracks from the album and I think that’s what the audience will be looking for. We will also play some remixes of our tracks that have not been releases as of yet. We also have completed some remixes for some of the Top 10 DJ’s as well which we are not at liberty to disclose as of yet so stay tuned for those.
Are you currently involved in any other projects?
No, we have been very busy as it is. There has been a lot to do. After the album release we worked on a lot of remixes. We also have started working on new tracks as well for the next album.
Do you have any other exciting news to share with our readers?
We have plans to do a new video but we will see about that. We haven’t decided yet so lets see how it works out.

Interview with Claudia Cazacu
http://www.electronicnightlife.com/
Electronic Night Life had the pleasure of interviewing the highest-ranking female DJ of the DJ Mag top 100 polls for 2010 and currently the only female DJ included in the poll. Our interview with Claudia Cazacu begins with a little history lesson on how she first got into music up to the point where she emerged as one of the hardest working artists in the business and beyond.
Greetings Claudia! How are you today?
Claudia: Hello. Today I am actually good. Been in bed with a very bad throat infection, but today I am starting to get better, so life is good again. I hate being ill.
Can you tell us about your musical background and the age that you decided to pursue a career in music?
Claudia: I’ve been involved in music since I was a little girl. My parents sent me to a school for music where I studied piano and violin and also have vocal lessons. I decided to pursue the career of being a dj about 5 years ago when I realized that actually my calling was on that stage. I’ve loved music since I can remember. Music it’s my life, everything else revolves around it.
What challenges did you face as you were trying to get your name out to the public?
Claudia: Everything is difficult in the beginning, but with hard work and determination you can achieve anything you wish for. Those challenges are keeping me going, getting me stronger and more determinate towards achieving my dream.
What were some of the adjustments you had to make in regards to your living environment after moving to the UK from Romania?
Claudia: I loved this place from the moment I arrived here. I felt in love with the traditions, the way of living and thinking of English people, that’s is after 13 years I am still here. This is my home now. The only difficult thing that I am still fighting with is missing my family, being apart from them, although I do go home to visit them twice, three times a year, or whenever I get the chance.
Do you believe that this move gave your career in music an extra push in some way?
Claudia: Of course being here helped me in so many ways, as this is the land of opportunities. But like everywhere, nothing comes for free, so had to work hard to achieve your goals.
You have a very toned physique, how many hours at the gym do you put in per week to maintain that?
Claudia: I usually go twice a week, but as from the beginning of this year, I intend to increase that to 4 times a week. Each of my gym session is about 2 and a half hours. I also run a lot and practice martial arts every time I get the chance too.
I love your fashion sense, which designers are among your favorites?
Claudia: I absolutely love Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Roberto Cavalli, and Christian Louboutin is like The God for me. A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes.
Who coordinates your outfits for photo shoots, videos, and other media presentations?
Claudia: I like to get the help of a professional, so a stylist it’s always handy, but it all comes down to my final decision. I like to get involved as much as possible and there is no one else out there who knows me better that me.
How do you feel about your newly obtained position in the DJ Mag top 100 poll?
Claudia: I feel extremely happy and blessed to be able to be among the first 100 djs in the world. It’s an honor for me and I am very grateful to everyone who supported me.
What are some of the new developments at your label Couture?
Claudia: The label is now managed by Spinnin in Holland, which is fantastic as it means that I have more time to think about music rather than paper work! Some great new stuff coming up and of course we have just release the first mix compilation on the label with my Haute Couture 2010 release of 2 Mixes.
How many hours do you spend in the studio and what areas do you find yourself working in the most?
Claudia: I spend all day in the studio when I don’t travel with my gigs. My working day sometimes has 12 or 14 hours. You can never finish with new ideas in the studio. I am constantly experimenting with new sounds and trying to come up with new tracks. My Virus TI is like a magical box where everyday I discover new things. And with the Logic 9 on my Imac I tend to loose myself from reality.
Have you already begun working on your next single? Can you tell us a bit about it?
Claudia: I have quite few tracks to finish in the next couple of months and they will be released early this year. I am also concentrating on finishing my next vocal project and of course there will be at least two more Quatrains released in 2011 so keep an ear out for them.
Are you currently working on any other projects or collaborations?
Claudia: As promised long time ago, my follow-up to “Contrasts” with Sied van Riel will be out soon. I have a few collaborations lined-up for 2011, but you will have to keep an eye out for this, as I can’t tell you anymore at this moment.
Do you have any other comments to share with our readers at ElectronicNightLife.com?
Claudia: Wish you all Happy New Year and hope to catch you along my trips.

Interview with Tristan Garner
http://www.electronicnightlife.com/
We are happy to introduce Tristan Garner, French house music producer signed to the Pool E Music label created by Antoine Clamran and Laurent Pautrat.
You may have heard of Tristan from some of his recent productions or remixes including Rapture 2011 and Make Your Move 2011. Learn more about Tristan by reading the interview below.
Greetings Tristan! Thank you for taking the time out to speak with us.
As you first emerged in the electronic music scene which DJ or producer would you say has inspired you the music to develop your musical career?
Tristan: The French Touch first (Daft Punk, Alan Braxe, Cassius, Air...) played a deep role in my career and inspiration. I still love the way they introduced funk & groove into house music.
I remember being really inspired by the English producers of the early 2000’s including Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, and Basement Jaxx.
Do you play any musical instruments?
Tristan: I studied classic piano for 10 years but quickly moved to digital music when i was 14.
Are your productions more hardware or software based?
Tristan: Except an old microkorg I don’t use anymore, I’m 100% software based. Today I think you can produce a club track with software exclusively. The revolution came with all these mix and mastering plug-ins. As long as you keep in mind you produce music for clubs and loud sound-systems, you don’t need to invest in expensive hardware tools.
Can you tell us a bit about your studio set up?
Tristan: I own an old G5 Mac combined with Logic Pro 9 + a pair of Genelec 8040a + a RME 400 soundcard and 2 UAD digital mastering cards, but my real secret comes from the gigantic sound bank and samples I’ve collected for the past 10 years.
You recently remixed Nadia Ali’s track “Rapture”. What is your connection with Nadia and what inspired you to remix the track?
Tristan: You know sometimes I consider myself to be a crook, because I got the chance to remix lot’s of classic tunes (Eric Morillo - Dancin, Crystal Waters - Gypsy Woman, Dave Amstrong - Make Your Move, and recently the classic Rapture) and each time I did them without any authorization! It was more “Hello I’m a French producer and I just remixed your classic track. Are you interested in it? 90% of time, it worked! Actually I feel frustrated with not getting the chance to play them when I was a kid, so it’s my way to give them a second life in my DJ sets.
As for Nadia, it was one of my biggest challenges. Avicii did a great job but I wanted to keep this dark and melancholic feeling from the original. I’m really proud of this remix and glad to see it works well now.
Are you working on any other tracks or remixes as the moment?
Tristan: I’m like a monk in my studio now. The Rapture remix and my last track Fallin Featuring Polina gave me more worldwide exposure. A lot of remixes for big names are on their way many as well as original tunes due to be released on my label Xtra Life. If I find the time my first album will be on the way.
How would you say that House produced in France differs from other international house music in regards to sound and style?
Tristan: I don’t think French house music differs. Today dance music goes global. May be due to our French touch, we try to keep this groove and melodic aspect in our productions.
Which fellow producer was the most fun to work with out of all producers you have previously collaborated with?
Tristan: I had lots of fun with my buddy Gregori Klosman when we did “in Down” last year. We did it in one night, and he wasn’t in my studio. We were chatting on skype sending our project files back & forth. Norman Doray is also a close friend, and it’s a real pain to work with him as he cracks a joke every 2 minutes. Norman & I just finished a new track... get ready !
Which artist do you hope to have an opportunity to work with in the future?
Tristan: My dream would be to work with big names like EricMorillo, Tiesto, or Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim). These guys are living legends. I’d like to have a track with Wolfgang Gartner, cause I love his recent stuff, and “Garner vs. Gartner” sounds pretty cool, no?
In your opinion, which one of your productions are you most proud of?
Tristan: You know my style is constantly evolving, so it’s hard to tell what’s my favorite track. I’m really proud of “in Down” because when we released it last year, everybody told us it was just a pure crap and it wouldn’t work! Then Eric Morillo started to support it and all the guys who previously hated it started to play it in all their sets.
I guess they just needed time to understand this track lol... At the moment I’m really proud of my “Make Your Move” remix. It just got signed to EyezCream / Ministry Of Sound, and I guess it will be a serious banger for 2011.
What are some of the best nightlife hot spots that France has to offer?
Tristan: Paris is cool because you can really find a wide range of sound and party every week. From deep house to techno including Nu-disco and rock, you can get good value of your money. I still have a crush for the legendary Queen Club, where I was resident last year, and a new club called Cabaret where I’m organizing my Xtra Life parties every 6 months. If you just want to party like an animal, Rex Club & Social Club are made for you.
What are your current top 5 tracks of this month?
Tristan:
01. Marco V & Mohawk - Ego Punk (stay tuned for the bootleg I just did with it)
02. Wolfgang Gartner - Space Junk
03. Robbie Rivera - Keep On Going (Tony Arzadon Remix)
04. Digitalism - Blitz
05. Deadmau5 & Chris Lake - I said (Michael Woods Remix)
A bit old but still a f*ckin banger!
Do you have any additional comments or information you would like to share with your fans?
Tristan: To all bedroom producers, I’m going to organize a big remix contest of one of my classic tunes. Stay tuned for more news in the weeks ahead. Cheers!

Interview with Jaytech

This week we bring you a fresh interview with Anjunadeep DJ & Producer Jaytech who recently released the Anjunadeep 03 compilation along with label mate James Grant. We are also running a contest to give away a signed copy of the album. Check out our contest section for more info. In addition Electronic Night Life will be covering the upcoming Anjunabeats event at Ice Palace Presented by Made Event where Jaytech will be performing in the Anjunadeep room. We are quite excited to attend after hearing this marvelous compilation.
http://www.electronicnightlife.com/
Greetings Jaytech!
How are you doing?
Jaytech: Great thanks! I am in Berlin eating yummy food and working on new tracks.
You play many different genres of music in your mixes, but if you had to choose a favorite genre which one would it be?
Jaytech: That’s a hard one. Some kind of house; can I give some kind of overall, blanket term for house? Blanket House.
In what ways has the influence of Above & Beyond been helpful in your career?
Jaytech: They’ve taught me what it means to be a professional record producer and performer, something I’m still learning myself. Their cutthroat yet cool-headed approach to music business has taught me a lot as well.
What are some of the benefits of working with the Anjunadeep label versus some other labels out there?
Jaytech: I feel that they are much more than simply a platform for releasing music. They work to foster their artists’ careers, advising us, connecting us with the right people, and most importantly doing a great job of getting our names out there.
Which co-producer do like working with the most?
Jaytech: I’ve had a great time lately with Boom Jinx and Soundprank. Both crazy and colorful people in their own respects and it shows in their work.
Are you looking forward to playing at the Anjunabeats event in Miami?
Jaytech: Absolutely! I am looking forward to seeing the new venue as well. I hear the Deep room will be much bigger this year, line-up is looking great too.
What can we expect from your performance?
Jaytech: I will be drinking champagne and playing some brand new Anjunadeep bombs. Expect some brand new material of my own as well.
Will you be staying in Miami for a while afterward to attend or play at any other parties?
Jaytech: Yep, I’ll be doing an in-store gig at Armani Exchange 6-8pm on the 25th; I’ll also be checking James Zabiela’s boat party and one of the Beatport parties if I can make it along.
What can we find you doing when you are not in the studio?
Jaytech: Travelling - haha, those two things are literally all I ever do.
How would your friends describe your personality?
Jaytech: My friend Nathan once said to me “Jimbo, when you look at me it’s like the sun is shining on my face, but when you aren’t looking at me it’s like I don’t even exist.” Deep, I know, but it’s probably true, and I would say that about a lot of other musicians I know too. I think because we always have to divide our attention across many different people, it’s easy to overlook people who are giving us attention and make them feel left out.
How long did it take for you to compile the tracks for the Anjunadeep: 03 compilation?
Jaytech: A few months. Whew! It was epic.
Are you working on any new tracks at the moment?
Jaytech: Yep, a couple of new originals, a new remix and a new album.
Which track can we find in frequent rotation in your recent podcasts?
Jaytech: None! I play new tracks in each show But in my sets you’re likely to hear Suspect 44 - Japanese Schoolgirls and Soundprank - The Far Side a fair bit.
What qualities do you look for when screening tracks for airplay and at your performances?
Jaytech: The musical idea, the sound quality of the production and the arrangement. There’s a certain club sensibility which takes a long time to get your head around, as it’s made up by many factors.
Do you have any other comments for our readers?
Jaytech: Stop browsing the Internet and do some work! Also see you in Miami
See you in Miami!
