Woah, I hope the issues with the NanoKey don't also apply to the NanoKontrol, I was seriously planning on buying one :(

They had a NanoKontrol in the display case, and it actually *looked* sturdier than the NanoKey did, as did the NanoPad. But, I only glanced at it - helpful, ain't I?

lolo and dave, could you give some more info on the LK?
I have seriously zero space left in my studio and I am damn bored of painting in notes or using my electribe as a makeshift keyboard.
I don't expect it to last for ever but as long as it has real sized keys and a decent key action that will be fine.
Thanks!

I've had a NanoKontrol for a fair few months now and I've no problems with it whatsoever, definitely worth the money.

I've been using my LPK for a few days while on vacation. It's surprisingly cool and functional for travel, but I wouldn't recommend it as a primary keyboard for a studio. First, it doesn't have full-sized keys. Granted, I'm a larger than average guy with larger than average hands, and the undersized keys really wreak havoc with my playing. Also, it doesn't have aftertouch, a mod wheel, or a pitch wheel. It actually does have decent velocity response, a pretty decent built-in arp that can sync to your hose, and a cool little sustain button - obviously a sustain pedal is not a practical use for a 25-key portable controller, so the sustain button works pretty nicely for 1-hand playing (i.e., using the left hand to sustain notes). The size of the keyboard is great for travelling, though - it fit in the laptop pocket and is a few inches shorter in width than our laptop (17-inch HP) is. So, overall it's worth the money for portable use, but you could probably pick up a more functional controller with full-sized keys for a little more money.
Here's a short video I threw together of me just improvising on the LPK25. Hopefully, it will give you a sense of its size and playability. You can see my hands tripping over each other, one finger hitting two keys, slipping off the keyboard, etc. in a few places, but overall it's not too bad and sure as hell beats drawing notes into the PRV. Sorry about the crappy quality - I recorded it directly from my laptop's headphone output into my camera's audio input.
Have you considered hand modeling?
They're smooth, creamy, delicate, yet masculine!

That's funny - apparently, youtube makes music sound worse, but skin look better. In real life, my hands actually look like they've been to hell and back. I was a ski racer for much of my life, so most of my fingers are somewhat bent from being broken/fractured so many times, I've got scars all over my hands from various mishaps in the field (I'm an environmental biologist), etc. The only modeling my hands would be good for is the "before" photo of some miracle age-defying remedy for skin and hands! :haha:

Thanks Dave - really appreciated.
My concern with it was exactly the point you hit on - key size. It looks like we have about the same size hands and it doesn't seem you have big issues with playing so the only thing that will be a negative is that I can't blame my lack of talent on key size ;)
Sucks that it doesn't have after touch but it's small and cheap enough that I think it makes up for it.
I think I'll go for this unless someone has a better suggestion for a small cheap keyboard for studio use?
