not from chicago, but i'm somewhat familiar with it because of the blogisphere too combined with random youtube results.
personal favorite of mine because i'm a video game nerd. :p

just want to clarify, talking about footwork tracks, not juke. i know it sounds crazy, but there is a difference. juke is more ghetto tech club friendly and has been around for a long time. footwork is a more recent thing, tracks are more extreme, outlandish and are meant specifically for battles.

I don't get it. Half the time they are dancing off beat. Is the purpose just to move your legs as fast as possible and completely ignore the music? Cause if it is then they succeeded.

LOL
when you're black it's called rhythm, but if white people did this then it would be a joke.
are people that desperate for a 'new sound' that they will listen to something that sounds like random pads being hit on an MPC?

This whole thread is a big joke, right? Like a big joke playing on some thread I missed? Funny guys.
MrJiveBoJingles
What an ugly racket.
Mr.Mystery
Who comes up with these names? Seriously...
MrJiveBoJingles
Well, it makes sense at least, because it seems to involve a lot of foot scrambling.

Haha :) yea it seems that way. I never lived in Chicago but I did live in Illinois for a long time and since i was little (im 26 now) there have been footworkers around. On youtube Walacam is a good source of hearing the tracks (footwork and juke tracks alike) I think its pretty sweet all of the really good footworkers have a "style" to say the least. Some notable ones being King Charles, Prince Jron, Pause Eddie, AG, Kenny, King Ace and alot of others. Alot of good "tracks" come from Dj nate, Rp Boo, Dj Spinn, Dj Rashad, Dj Earl, Dj Chi Boogie, Traxxman, and Dj Solo to name a few. Oh heres a link to walas youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/WALACAM

yea rp boo is credited as being the inventor of the genre and got a gold plated drum machine (or something like that) trophy recently honoring the fact.
right now there are hords of bloggers/djs drooling over footwork tracks and no one can actually get them. the only way to hear them is crappy youtube quality or the occasional free one leaked out on a blog. people in the UK and all over the US have been trying to reach them by phone, even people being flown out to hunt down and find these producers in southeast chicago to pay for tracks or sign them, but to no avail for the most part. they either deliberately make themselves unavailable or they're unreasonable with their terms to release their music. i think its only a matter of time this stuff will get exposed, copied to death, and fall the same fate as dubstep though.

I call this one the no homo.

Dubstep is more diverse and better than ever, you just have to sort the crap out.
