Jive, while you are at it, ask to get tested for Marfan disease also. Since Ehlers is a genetic mistake in the synthesis of colagen (fibrilar protein) it could be related for the disease I mentioned up there, which is an alteration of elastin (also fibrilar protein) which can have way more severe consequences. |
Yeah, I mentioned that to the doc but he seemed to think Marfan was less likely, I'm guessing because I don't have many Marfan-type skeletal features. I'll make sure to bring it up again when I see the rheumatologist, though. |

I used to be able to do #5 in that pic, but I can still do 1 & 2 easily.
Also, I used to be able to pull my right thumb backwards into my wrist (as in opposite direction of the motion in #2), but can't anymore.
I can shake hands behind my back though. One hand bent down, the other bent up (the move police often use in movies/tv-series where they force the hand upwards. I can scratch my neck like that with no pain/problems.
What's the foot-thingy tho? What's so abnormal about moving your foot/toes upwards? |

May want to get checked out for Ehlers-Danlos and Marfan syndrome to be safe, then. |

Can't even do that halfway.
How is that anatomically even possible. :wtf: |

We have proteins in our body (insolubile ones)called colagen and elastin. These stand for the resistance and limitations of tisue (and a whole lot of other stuff).
Anyway, these have several synthesis ways, both intra and extra cellular.
With these diseases, somewhere along the way there is a mistake which doesnt complete the synthesis of the proteins (i believe it is the extracelular transformation of procolagen - colagen) so the tissues lack resistance, ergo, bend away! |

I can do all of it as well. Both of my thumbs are also hypermobile.
I am pretty sure I have this syndrome.
I'm worried I may also have this one:
