DJ Fitt Presents: The Big Room Experience Part 4 - (137 BPM) - (1 Hr 10 Mins)

Hey everyone. Thanks for checking out the mix;) This is the first set I've posted in quite a while. I've been really busy lately and didn't want to post sets knowing I wouldn't be able to regularly. The good news is that I have several sets backlogged that I am going to be posting; starting with this one.

This Big Room Experience set was my submission for the Trance Addict DJ contest; and since it's a contest for a festival I felt like playing to that sort of vibe. Regardless I was really happy with how the mix turned out and hope that you all will enjoy it as much as I do.

1 - The Blizzard - Kalopsia (Original Intro Mix)
2 - DJ Eco Ft. Badlands - To The Edge And Back (Original Mix)
3 - Rex Mundi - Opera Of Northern Ocean (Phynn Remix)
4 - DJ Eco - People (Rafael Frost Remix)
5 - Setrise - Goomba (Original Mix)
6 - Marcos - Reality (Original Mix)
7 - Daniel Wanrooy & Rene Havelaar - 5th Avenue (High Pass Mix)
8 - Six Senses Pres. Factor Six - Microtonic (Danilo Ercole Remix)
9 - Mandala Bros - Amazing (Store N Forward Remix)
10 - Oliver P - Lost Without You (Original Mix)
11 - Signum & Roger Shah - Healesville Sanctuary (Signum Mix)

Had some people message me and tell me that there was a section towards the end of the mix that had what sounded like a huge wall of reverb during a drop of one of the latter tracks. I listened and there was something that got messed up in the conversion process so I'm taking the mix down for a few minutes while I re-up the file. If you already have it probably would be wise to re-download it; the sound is pretty ear piercing.

Fixed; sorry for the inconvenience!

Hey, no worries. I've heard from a few people about problems like this when uploading to Soundcloud.

The first thing that jumps into my eyes is the time, wich is 70.22, where only 70 minutes were allowed? I hope they're not going to fuzz about that though :) on the other hand your mix only contains 11 tracks for 70 minutes?
Great tracklist anyhow, nice & smooth mixing... lovely set, I like it! :)

I sent an edited version in for my submission which is 70 minutes on the dot; but think it ends more abruptly than letting it run out on its own as the one I posted here does.

Usually I would mix more than 11 tracks or a shorter set but the Kalopsia intro mix is 10 minutes and 54 seconds unmixed!! I didn't think I'd have another use for an 11 minute intro so I decided to take advantage of the 70 minute time limit as I have always wanted to use it to start a mix.

Thanks for the comments Tom I'm glad you enjoyed it;)

It was ok, tracks were a bit too samey for my likings though. Although it was tight, just sounded like you were playing it pretty safe here.

I imagined someone would say something like this as I was planning and making the mix. I don't buy much trance anymore; in fact I purchase prog at a rate of about 15:1 to trance these days. When I do play trance usually it's in a longer set and I can feature a wider variety of the genre as well as mixing in some faster prog. This set was for a contest to play at a festival so I felt I should play something with constant energy throughout. Definitely not my personal favorite style to play but on a festival stage playing to a bunch of huge trance fans what I came up with seems to me to be pretty ideal. Can't please everyone:) It also sucks that the mix had to be contained to 70 minutes as personally I enjoy playing for longer than 2 hours at a minimum just so I can do what I do.

However; I am curious what you meant by playing it safe? Track selection? Mixing? Transitions?

Thanks for taking a listen man appreciate the feedback!

Didn't mean to come off sounding all negative as there were a couple of tracks where segments of them really caught my attention, and I know where your coming from in regards to keeping a tight flow while showcasing diversity all in under 70 mins.
What I meant in regards to playing it safe is that the placements of incoming tracks were in obviously safe spots(outros). I realise it's easy to keep it sounding tight playing like this, however (speaking for myself here!) I would have probably tried being a little more ambitious and creative with placements in a competition like this to really try and get an edge over everyone else.
Cheers for sharing your entry with us, seems no-one else has bothered. :)

Bump!
coded audio
this sort of stuff works well at a festival no doubt.
My attention was continually drifting listening to this in my car which is a sign I guess that I was a little bored.
Well mixed though.
