First Time in Chicago - July 16-19th

I'm going to be in Chicago for the first time over the July 16th weekend. It's my gf's birthday and we want to check out the club scene as well as do some sight seeing.
We're mainly into house, techno and breaks.
If you can offer any advice regarding clubs/events or general must-see info for that weekend, it would be appreciated.

We're kind of into the underground scene and don't necessarily need to see a big name dj.
Any small venues where the locals bring it on a weekly basis that we should check out?
We're from Waterloo and our favorite clubs in the area are Footwork and Comfort Zone. Any comparable places in Chicago? |

if you want good house music check out smartbar on the 17th for justin long's bday party (doing an all vinyl classics set)
there might also be some private parties going on that weekend, i'll let you know what comes about. |
