Mohawk Racetrack at Woodbine in Campbellville

Magnetonium

I had my first ever visit to this place today as part of my company group to have dinner and some fun with horse betting. I tried my luck on horse betting for the first time, and won 21 bucks on 4 races (2 won, 2 lost), considering that my wagers were $5 each.

I must say I really enjoyed it very much. Food was better than even Mandarin's. Anyone here shares the love for Woodbine and has any experiences, advice, or stories to tell? Things to know?

Thanks.

Official Woodbine thread?

I use to be really into horse racing...wanted to go to the Queen's Plate but was up at the cottage. I don't really know many of the jockeys anymore. When ever I went I would place $20.00 on Sandy Hawley to show...didn't matter which horse he was riding.

I am of the equestrian persuasion. I grew up with them. The tracks are fun. Sorry you just found that out after the Queen's Plate!

The ponies are good. Exactor/Triactor box makes good money.

My dad makes the best horse stew. We ate our weak ones at my parents' farm.

I work at the Saratoga Race Course (Saratoga) and Belmont Park (NYC) here in NY. The meet starts soon and I'm beyond excited. I've done everything from taking bets, working random stands and now I have a siiick office job dealing with the 'upper class clientele'. Basically Senators, random musicians, highrollers and what not.

Its ridiculously fun because I get a lot of tips, betting wise ;), and its sick to see the races everyday. Plus, I have friends in the barns so when big name horses come in we sometimes get to go 'meet' them or go out with the jockeys at night.

Anyway .. randomness aside.. I love the good side of racing.. but some of the stuff that happens is .. yikes.
