Or we could do what we used to do and have mod/admin-approved registration. You used to have an actual person verify your account before it was activated. I'm sure you could easily find one to two people who would be willing to do it, but Del has always gone, "Meh, too much work for people, not gonna bother."
Seriously, the "meh" attitude is all I've seen from him in regards to a lot; it took forever to get a west coast moderator after ours quit, nothing has changed in regards to spambots, and do I need to mention TA 2.0?
I'll probably get my balls busted for this post as I have in the past, but "meh". |

If you knew me, or what gets discussed in the mod forum, you'd understand how outrageous your statements are with regards to me being 'meh'. Sorry for the spam, for the most part they are under control as over 100 registrations a day are already blocked and 90% of the ones that make it through get auto-suspended/thread deleted.
It took forever to get a west coast mod because it's such a vast area and the threads nominating people were inconsistent. I then met bas at DEMF and made him mod. The end.
As for manual activation, when people read a post they want to reply right away, making them wait to be verified is not conducive to a free-flowing discussion. |

| i agree with swamper when i create an alt account i want to post right away. Besides if you knuckle heads didn't post in the spam threads the would quietly drift down off the main page. They are also an invaluable source for porn, viagra, and various penis enlarging devices. |

That's nothing unique. Lots of sites have image verification forms to prevent spam bots. However, something tells me that the spammers here aren't actually bots so it probably wouldn't make much difference. |
