If it's a great track, it'll transcend "genre boundaries."

Point me in the direction of a C&W song that transcends any boundaries and i'll agree.

It's kind of hard to deny genre hate isn't prevalent here. People like Oswey are at least grounded enough to admit he doesn't like uplifting when he comments on my tracks, but can still give feedback beyond that. Most people here unfortunately don't have that kind of self-control.

That being said I'd love a section like this.

No more brutal honesty for me, thanks. I've spent too many sleepless nights weeping over feedback I've gotten from those who hate cheesy vocal dance tracks. :(

So, seriously though, I don't spend nearly as much time on the songs forum as I should, but it seems to me that most people are honest enough. I think you just need to put it all in perspective and realize that each person has their own tastes and their own preferences of what they expect to hear in other people's music. So, you really need to just step back from the feedback (that applies to both negative and positive feedback), think about whether or not it's even on the mark, and as tehlord mentioned, it's most important to be your own worst critic. And, remember, just because a person is brutally honest, it's still just one person's opinion - the only difference is in the delivery.

I know you try and shoehorn artists into a genre box in the US but.......

Not a terrible idea but, if you want to give brutal feedback just do it in Music Producer's Promotion. I see no reason why there should be a special thread if there is already an entire forum.
