Sometimes you kick ass right your thinking OMG how did I do that I must be awesome....
Then other days you get moooooosed like never before all day its almost like the amazing tactic or stratagy you used only the day before is rubbish?
What must be happening in the brain?
One day is your pre frontal lobe particularly active and one day not or some other area of the brain? do your thumbs work better one day and not the next? is it just one day you get lucky and play against people that your better than and then others the opposite?
fun thing to think about...
Anyone else have random days where they cant shoot/drive/jump whatever you play? |

It used to happen when i was playing Live for Speed on a daily basis, mostly participating in on-line leagues. Some days i would post near record times on tracks, but then one in a while i would have a terrible day and barely qualify for races.
Now that i basically only play RPGs and business sims i dont have that problem, i can kill a monster or force my rival into bankruptcy any day of the week...then again i dont play anywhere near as often as i used to though. Growing up sucks. |

ditto..I dunno why but I have always kicked ass in games. I pretty much play TF2 exclusively now and ever since the first month of playing I always end up on top of the scoreboard within 15 minutes. I in Pwn. |

i only suffer if ive been playing a similar title with vastly different mechanics, like going from one racing game to another.

Seeing as how I've been playing games since I was a kid, I have the natural ability to pick up and play just about anything without much of a learning curve. This, of course, is derailed when certain strategy games are brought into the mix, as many (Europa Universalis, Settlers, Civilization) are very different from each other, and your reflexes don't matter at all.
When it comes to games like Geometry Wars, Rez, Lumines, Ikaruga, Mars Matrix (an arcade/Dreamcast classic), etc....the more twitchy, old-school mechanic-style games, I'm a god. My reflexes are second to none. But as I grow older and game less, I'm finding my FPS skills (where I shined the most as a teen) have fallen sharply. Not sure why there's a difference.
But I definitely have an off day or so. When I used to be hardcore Counterstrike/Halo PC, I would dominate for the most part...but every so often, things would turn against me. |

counter-strike is like that for me.
even now (when i don't play every day/week)
some times i hope into a server that i like ...and i'll just own s..and it's not because they suck, it's just because i'm on the ball...
and other days, i'll be like 3-10.
probably drinking related. |

| Yeah dude, I dunno if its because certain days I'm more patient and don't run out in the open like an idiot, or maybe it IS drinking (I can relate)...playing CS while drinking is awesome...by the end of the night you are knifing teammates and throwing grenades at yourself. Love it. |

In FPS games I often find that my bad games are due to me getting cocky and thinking I can run out in the middle of the busiest area of the map and kill everyone before they even notice me.
My good games start with me methodically positioning myself around the action, with interspersed moments of running around like a moron. |

it's easy to rack up high score in TF2. But I play medic exclusively, so maybe I'm exempt from this situation.
When it comes to FPS games, for me, I fall into a category of having more OFF days than ON. Every few weeks my time comes, the hair is slicked, the teeth are straight, the smell is fresh, and I never miss a shot. Most days I'm just garbage at every FPS. |

Yesterday in cod I was winning Free for alls with any gun I was using even quickscoping on rust calling in chopper gunners even got one kill of a nuke on favela in a free for all.
Today its like i cant play just played with the same set ups and am getting 15-18 kills and same deaths no streaks or anything.
Random I swear it must be patience and concentration levels at different times I love to be able to measure when the best time to play is :) |
