G'day Fellow TA's
On friday august 2nd i'm going in a dj comp at billboards (hard kandy) I will be playing (of course) prog trance. The set is only 10 minutes and i would love to hear what everyone says about what tricks i should do etc.
The marking criteria are
mixing (beat matching, innovation in sequencing) 40%
music selection / flow 30%
tricks, scratching, etc 15%
audience response 15%
So i 'm thinking of playing about 5 tracks, is this too many, to few? What tricks should i do, just eq stuff and a back spin? I only know about 3 stratches and there all pretty easy, should i put them in? I'm thinking of playing all pretty banging tracks with maybe one big name? There are 3 decks there, should i use all of them? Or will this just confuse me in 10 minutes?

Well I know absolutely squat about DJing so u can either take my advice or ignore it (the latter is probably the wiser option :D)
All I can say is don't get too fancy, stick to what u know. If you can do the tricks or use three decks, by all means do them, but if you can't, don't try :D:cool:

I don't know jack about DJing either, but... IMO anyone who can spin 5 trance tracks AND make it sound good in the space of only 10 min is pretty farken good... Personally, if u can land the right track combo and put in a couple of tricks, i reckon u'll get a pretty good reaction from the crowd... That only leaves beatmatching... But i'm sure u've got that down pat...

| Thanks man, my set is at 8:50 so it's a pretty early start for eveyone, one of the last sets in the comp i think, but if you come it's free entry to HK afterwards. Bit of a sales pitch :-). I dj as Glycerine so when you here that name you can cheer! ;-) |
