Digital camera?

I'm after a digital camera. Doesn't have to be too special beyond a) a high resolution (12MP minimum) and b) reliable and likely to last a while. I'm looking into this - http://ubuyhardware.com/p~p-1848567...a---Silver.aspx - do you guys think it'd be appropriate? Any suggestions of an alternative?

Thanks in advance!

The new Canon SX210 is amazing. Also, I'm biased, but I think they make the best amateur cameras in general.

this is the only question that matters... and any canon power A-series does not fit in any pockets comfortably

I love the prospect of a new member joining and posting here is apparently FAR more unlikely than a bot making a semi-relevant, coherent thread :p

a semi-large megapixalage shouldn't be your primary requirement since megapixels have little to do with the quality of the image. The differences between an 8mp shot and a 14mp shot will not be very clear, and unless you're trying to become a professional photographer, which it seems you aren't, it's not the most important attribute to consider.

For example at 4:3, 5mp: 2584 x 1936 and 12mp 4000 x 3000. It's over 2x the megapixels but only 55% larger. A well-composed shot would look indistinguishable at most sizes you'd ever need.

So, do you want a camera that you can pocket and take anywhere and just point-and-shoot or are you trying to establish a hobby, perhaps get different lenses, manually tweak all the settings, etc?

also Canon ftw
