Probably not to everyones taste, but imo this is one of the most stunning pieces of music ever written - it was used recently in Scorcese's 'Shutter Island' - it might just be my favourite Youtube vid of all time aswell - all the images used fit the mood and emotions of the music perfectly :

very nice indeed tho i cant tell if its very depressing or just beautiful either way so here is my contribution a few years old now but still has that impact

That one's too sentimental for my tastes. Max Richter is a lot better when he's a bit more subtle and darker:

Love Max Richter. My favorite is The Blue Notebooks, which was inspired by Franz Kafka's diary-like Blue Octavo Notebooks... melancholy work, with narration by the actress Hilda Swinton. Also like his latest, 24 Postcards.

24 postcards is an awesome album
I have Cascade NW by W as my ringtone, afterall, the album is supposed to be ringtones.

I was not aware of all the details surrounding the Blue Notebooks album, which is one of my favorites of his.

Just learned he has a new LP out called "Infra," loosely based on T.S. Eliot's "Waste Land"

Yup, I saw it in New York, from what I can remember. Very good employment of "less is more"-visuals, though I think I have to see it again to make up a firm opinion on the plot and underlying messages.
