I thought his post was very good. I have actually heard the Aldwell and Schachter book recommended before. May pick it up one of these days.
JEO
Well let's just see if the thread copes with you without turning into a storm before page 4. It just happens in 90 % of threads you participate in.

Done, on with the original subject, please.

edit. I think his post was really good too, though one good post per year can't justify his general behavior.
I remember Mad for Brad (got it right now?) saying something about him being the music theory guy of this forum. If we ever had any questions about music theory, we should ask him. However Mad for Brad's response instantly drew something negative towards it. I just hate this forum sometimes.
Mad for Brad
I just corrected you on my name. It isn't Brad. Chill the out.
JEO
OK, Mad for Brad, .

I appreciate your first post, however.
Mad for Brad
does the fact that my name might suggest i'm a flaming homo scare you ? It seems everything was fine up until I corrected you on my name and its reference that i'm am actually mad for brad and not brad. Maybe i'm actually female. Would that make it sit better with you ?

Things I do when producing:

1. Scales / modes

After I have a melody, I transpose it with some midi plugin till I find the best sounding and root note. So I can decide the scale, depending on the melody mood, I chose major or minor.

2. Chords

I use mostly triads. 7ths and 9ths I think are interesting when creating arps and motifs (question/answer).
Most of times 1 chord for 2 bars, so it can get attention for more time. 8 or 16 bars chord progressions.

3. Basslines

I use a main bassline very "rooted", playing only the root, but when layering other basses, I can use other notes in the scale.

4. Composing

I just keep composing a project when I'm feeling it, this is the reason I have tons of unfinished projects on my hd.

I really don't care, Brad.
Mad for Brad
you obviously care as everything was dandy by your own admission until I made this distinction. What exactly changed from my post being great to this thread being derailed other than me outlining my user name.

I was going to use Crazy for Swayzy but thought Mad for Brad just rolls of the tongue.
MrJiveBoJingles
Also, Swayze is sadly no longer around to receive your affection and admiration.

That's a thing I've heard about numerous times, what does it really mean? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_and_response_(music) ?)

Mad for Brad
think of music as a dialogue. One instrument does something which is echoed back in a fragmented / rearranged way by another instrument. It gives things order and purpose.

How about AchonforBacon

My apologies for misunderstanding something in your post about your nick. As you can obviously see, I'm from Finland and don't speak english as my native language. So misunderstandings are more than common. You mentioning some fancy words with the word gay in your post just suggest me you're calling me a fag for calling you Brad, though I was more likely just trying to get a more positive view on you on my post, knowing you know a lot about music theory and all, and this is surely a thread where your posts are more than welcome.

Kinda looks like that "Ya dun goof'd" -guy nowadays.

Could you name some edm songs where this question/answer technique is used?
