What is this ? Is it safe? I keep getting a message when I log into my bank account saying that "the website below wants to store information on your computer using gears". What the hell is it?
And yes I ing Googled it, but I want to know exactly what the website does with my information. Only recently has my bank's site been asking me to allow it to use gears, and I want to know if my will be secure. |

no dont use it for banking or personal stuff
it was developed for speeding things up such as web cache, in fact it originated from youtube to help speed up uploads. i wouldn't say they designed / coded it for security. |

| Excellent, that's what I figured. But that's so weird that it's now asking me to do that. However, I did notice that some of the pages (on web banking) don't show up properly. Like I had to use IE to view my bank's auto insurance quote page. Wtf. :mad: |
