This is how I see Trance production @ this moment:

Pre- Production:

Building blocks of individual parts ( repetitive parts ) of sounds.
Imagine this as your SEQ bar in FL-Studio…
The Leads could be something like Vanguard or V-station.

Kick: *--- *--- *--- *---
BASS: -*** -*** -*** -***
LEAD1: *--* --*- *--* --*-
LEAD2: -*-* ---*--*-*---*
LEAD3: ---- --*- -*-- ----

You make like a list full of repetitive leads and sounds ( With my latest mix I used 35 pulgins making up 20 Main Leads )– the next one blending into the previous. Creating like a flow.

AS lead 1 fades away: lead 3 comes in. :toothless

After that you can render every block individually- take it out- make it sound gooood and pop it back into FL.

By forming this list you can keep perfect level on your DB- Meter and not confuse your ears.
Many guys start MIXING from scratch- without any PRE:wtf: -paration.

MIXING:

Building the actual mix-
Putting it together like a house- - and also add some REV cymbols and Stabs to spice it up.

POST-Production:

Mastering and equalization

Maybe Tiesto will hire him. :tongue2

I mean, seriously, if it's that formulaic, why waste your time on it when you could be doing something much more challenging, like putting a 24-piece jigsaw puzzle together?

this is 100% accurate and exactly what everyone who ever writes anything that can be remotely called trance does
johncannons1
if it was that easy.. why wouldnt more ppl be doing it?

i mean there are alot of bedroom producers. but if that was the formular to success. there would be alot more ppl trying.

i dont think you can analyze a whole genre and say yeop thats all trance is.

What do you mean? The whole reason I upgraded to Sonar is because I ran out of all the preset patterns, loops, and complete songs from my last DAW. I just mix and match. I'll be running out of Sonar's soon and then I'll have only two or three DAW's left before I have to convert to Mac.

Personally, I had a hard time following this guy's tutorial but if it helps me stop using the same 8 beat loop I've been using for the past five years, it will be well worth having learned to read.

Thanks for the criticism guys – however I have to disagree.

Everybody always try to complicate everything, getting too technical on music.

Yes of course its not finished after that- but having a good PRE-stage for yourself can save you a lot of time.

This tutorial is more - - a view of the bigger picture
After creating the bars – you start coloring the blocks- cloning and adding minor changes.

If you're thinking :wtf:

Then await my latest creation...
with it I will prove this method…
Peace
