Interesting, I've got a Ukrainian friend in almost the same situation. I reckon that happened all over the place :p
Except she married an Armenian guy. |
Oh boy. I've heard horror stories about Armenian guys. Uzbek guys are pretty bad too man. My jaw has been on the floor countless times after hearing stories about the they do and way they treat women over there. Haha... she actually tried to get me to move over there. Now that she's here, she's like, "Oh my god, I had no idea how ed up it was until I got away from it. I don't ever want to go back!" |

haha... nah man she's 100% Russian. Part of the leftover USSR contingent that remained in Tashkent. Her mom worked for the government over there, and retired shortly after the collapse in 1991. |
I seriously would have never guessed that you had a russian wife :wtf:
It seems so taboo for some reason |

We met in Malaysia in 2004... I was there on business and she had just broken up with her boyfriend and went there with a couple friends for a month. Malaysia is the only country she was allowed to travel to as an unmarried female from Uzbekistan (outside of Russia and the surrounding "stan" countries). I met her the 2nd day I was there... we were both staying at the Mandarin Oriental attached to the twin towers in Kuala Lumpur. Long story short, we hung out for a couple weeks, kept in touch for a year or so, then I went to visit her in Uzbekistan twice over the course of the next year, and we decided to take a chance believing it would work out. She moved here the end of 2006 and we got married in 2007. :)

lol why's that? I had a secret fettish for Russian girls since I was little and believed the Russians were "the enemy". haha. If she was from Saudi Arabia or something, I could see the taboo but not Russians. Maybe it's just me? |
