I was looking through a FutureShop flyer a few weeks ago and I saw they were selling a new type of CD-R, at first I thought they were just the black looking ones, but it turned out that they are something special: A CD-R that looks and feels like a vinyl record! I thought this was a pretty neat idea, I havent actually seen one in real life but I have attached this image for you all to see:

So what do you all think of this idea? Wouldn't it be neat if the next generation of pro CD players actually let you manipulate the CDs by touching them, you could use these CDs and it would and feel a lot like vinyl. Maybe some of you 'vinyl-addicts' are cringing in your seats right now, getting ready to flame me.. but oh well. What's everyone's opinion on these?
Personally I think it's a neat idea, and it could catch on, except that I think the cost is quite a bit more than a regular CD-R (they were only being sold seperately, so no deal for buying in bulk packages or a spindle). |

| i have a bunch of these n theirs nothing special about them. their supposed to last up to 50 years..that's what's supposed to be so good about them...n not from wear n tear but rather from normal exposure. who leaves their cd's lying around out of the case anyways? i compared their audio quality with normal sony/tdk run of the mill cdr's and theirs no difference in quality when using them to burn either. they look cool but other than that r a waste...besides i label all my cd's so the cool lookin top would get covered anyways so agan a waste. :) |

first of all, I use CDJs myself.
but... I think that by using these cd's you're actually achieving the OPPOSITE of the goal you're aiming for.
Goal = to look more like a 'real' vinyl DJ.
reality = these cds emphasise the image of a desperate wannabe DJ who can't afford vinyl.
they look fun though :) |

| thats what i ws saying. that's all they are n have some type of carbon reinforcement so that it ages better and is better resistant to light.. oother than that their the same . who plans on leaving their cd's outin the sun or using them or 50 yers anyways? only thing i'd use them for is for a "safekeep" master for productions. n it is just a sticker slappe don t it to make it look like that..kinda pointless, especially if your gonna label over it with the cd's track listing, if u ask me. |

| There are ones that actually have the grooves in them, instead of just a label that looks like it. |
