Silk Digital :: B.O.N.G. & Eddie M – Hotel Rooms [SILK029] out now!

Argentinian artist B.O.N.G. has proven to be one of the great new talents on Silk's roster this past year: his celebrated "Walk & Talk" EP remains one of the highlights on the label catalogue, and he continues to dazzle us with his artistic range and prolific, yet consistently high-quality output. With great enthusiasm, Silk presents B.O.N.G. and co-producer Eddie M's follow-up EP, a conceptual release entitled "Hotel Rooms." In the title cut and release opener, B.O.N.G.'s penchant for breezy, summer vibes is again quickly apparent. A classic Balearic mood emanates from the wet guitar licks that permeate the track. A rich, resonant pad (another artist signature) enhances the warm, soothing vibes as well. Moving next to the "Lobby," the energy begins to pick up, and an anthemic lead chord riff propels the tune forward. In the climactic breakdown, a lush piano solo adds greater poignance. Finally, B.O.N.G. offers one last 'gift' to his audience: the closing track is another deeper, more chilled take with no shortage of warm vibes. B.O.N.G. also offers a few more beautiful piano strokes on this one, which blissfully blend into the relaxed atmosphere of the tune.

This is a pretty quality release for me. A lot of B.O.N.G.'s stuff sounds very similar and a lot of the same synths get reused. I don't know if it's Eddie M's influence here, but all three songs sound fairly distinct while still carrying a fairly common balearic thread.
Personally I think I enjoy Lobby the most, but would definitely not mind being able to find all three tracks. |
