Is this too rocky? Rough vocals added, many changes.

The vocals are very rough whispered at night.

What do you think of the synths in the chorus - a bit lame to my ears - until all the filters etc open?

I like it, it's definately got an epic feel about it (potentially) as long as the chorus part is laid down nicely.

Stop second guessing yerself and just get on with it! ;)

this is the chorus part.

To make it epic enough - would you add sizzling side chained pads and a rolling bass (I'm in 2 minds about a roller)?

I meant laying down the vocals. The obvious choice is the 'I Remember' style of vocal.

Rolling bassline - 100% not.

Sidechained pads, only very subtle i'd say.

I reckon your hook in this could be the delay that happens on the chord change at 0.25 and a very cool lead of some sort. The vocals are where this track should be at though.

the main lead sometimes has really strange harmonies...feels a little weird...but still kinda interesting...don't know what to say...it's not "rocky" at all...it actually feels kinda cool...finish the track and then let us know...

actually that track is a great track for beginners to learn key modulation. It changes all over the place without sounding awkward at any point. As far as your track, it sounds a little empty at the moment. The production sounds solid but your melodic and harmonic content don't really scream big room and definitely lack the catchiness and kickass quality of the rocky montages.

and who can forget the last fight song.

Thanks for the valuable input.

It's very empty - just the basics, but I wondered if to finish it which will involve hopefuly adding a lot more epicness.
Your'e saying it lacks catchiness so I'm thinking it's not worth bothering with but on the other hand I have a feeling by adding 'epicness' it could be catchy - but as ever with me I'm not sure.

So I'll ponder what to do.

harmony tends to indicate whether something will be epic. THose cliche epic scores all use the same progressions. I never said it was bad, I just don't think it is catchy in the traditional sense. The phrygian harmonic movement is fresh but of course most people will find it weird. I suppose I 've heard so many cliche catchy things that I prefer to hear weird chord progressions over the obvious. To me, this sounds like a track I would play at 6am when everyone is too tired to dance and you just want people to nod their head.

Substitute the 4rth chord after the B major one with C# major and you will get something albeit not epic, a little more uplifting.

I'm a work on this tonight. My singing first, ha!
Then layer the main lead with something screaming and ethereal (well thats the hope anyhow).

Then some pounding drums I can hear in my nut. In particular a massive mid / low snare with verb to come in after one chorus line.

I can't change chords as I commited all the bass (7 lines) to audio - I've just got go with what I got an try something out.

Again thanks for the input - I'm one of those people that feeds of others like a parasitic worm.
