The kick drum, along with the bass, are one the most important elements it's in EDM. This is what drives the track forward, and most other elements are going to work around and compliment the kick/bass.
Now, you don't need to hear it booming all the time (laptop in the office as an example) but within the clubs where this music is designed to be played is is absolutely essential. Just think of how much impact it has on the dancefloor when the bass cuts out for a second and then back in? It's where most of the energy comes from. |
