For me and most of the people around NY, hooking up usually means making out and mayyybe getting to the first base.

"We just made out" - When it's just a make out session.
"We went back to my place" or some other contrived allusion - When we end up having sex.
"Hooking Up" is always something I have regarded as being in between making out and sexual intercourse. And it's a lot harder to a corpse when it's on fire. |
