That's weird, I've never been to BM myself but I would imagine Burning Man should be playing a lot more progressive tunes, or like you said psychedelics, probably something like this:
As of bringing your own turntable + sound system? Are they allowing that in BM, or do you need to have a special permit? I think you should Josh :)
We brought our own setup and built a small structure for it and rocked out plenty of afterhrs at camp.
I did see burridge twice. Once at sunset, and finally Sunday sunrise he showed up at electric ladyland about 2 hrs late I think.
Opulant temple had a few good moments. I saw dan play at rooots society, but wasn't into that at all. That Barbara streisand track???? Wow
The music was a letdown, but it was still great. To bad cl and cox didn't come back

That's 100% correct. For us, the music is really important, so it'll usually be meh for us there. If I ever go, it'll be hang out with friends.
Another reason why I love Coachella: I know I'll like the music there (and I get to pick and choose who I see).

I still wouldn't say the music at BM is even remotely bad because unless you're into fluffy trance there's always going to be something you like somewhere on the playa. You just gotta go with the flow and not get hung up on partying at the really huge camps.

Ashley and I stumbled upon some great music throughout the week at random spots. We saw Jody Wisternoff a couple times at Root Society without knowing it was him and he was murdering it. Saw Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus, Mr. C and Seth Troxler at Nexus on Friday and then later saw Jamie Jones and Seth play a nutty sunrise set at Disco Knights. SOOOO ing good!!!  Saw Cassy play a sunrise set on Robot Heart in addition to Lee and Nikita playing on Robot Heart sunrise set as well. Saw Filthy Rich ABSOLUTELY DESTROY one of the domes at Root Society, the whole place was blacklit with everyone glowing GOING NUTS :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: I have some pretty dope vids of everything, will definitely post up asap.
I get chills just looking at all the pics and vids, wanting to go back so bad! (and while writing this post) Mad props to the sound systems at all the places. Top notch sound at nearly all of the camps/art cars we went to. WAYYY better than most big club systems around SF. :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:
Also props to Josh and Michael and everyone at our camp for providing awesome music all week. ;)
TAKE ME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!:whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:

Words can only do so much! I will upload the vids so everyone can see what's up but the vids won't do the place justice. The whole place is a freakin carnival and at night it turns into an adult electric light parade with crazy beats everywhere and as far as the eye can see. :eyes:

Sound out there was amazing for sure. Especially Robot Heart.
On a side note, how is the sound quality on your new Canon. Does it blow out?

this is very very true.
i ran into very very good prog and sometimes bouncy fun choons and the best parties/random gathering while wandering the playa and stumbling upon a various art cars and their sound systems. (the art car with the huge glowing heart played some good for sure!)
while root society, etc/lager camps, catered to the masses...they can be fun parties but musically not the best stuff...i kept on trippin out how the BM folks were eatin up the dubstep stuff like no other...i mean, the dance areas were f'ing packed with folk lovin that ...i was like, where in the f did this hip hop acid techno come from? hahahhah just kidding i like it for about 30 seconds then over it.
i tried my best to use that dj guide thing...but you lose the sense of time while wandering the playa.
cant wait to go back.

Definitely depends on your taste in music. We heard a few good sets by Burridge, DJ Dan, Jeff Allen, and some good deep progressive at the Robot Heart but 99.9% of what we heard while exploring was not our thing. And god do burners love their dubstep.
Doesn't really matter though as we didn't go there for music. When we happened across some good music, we happily stayed and partied. Otherwise it was all about exploring.

i loved going back home in the am and hearing the bass pounding off in the distance...so good..it made me want to go back out.... but by that time, my ass was so ing tired, i passed the out.

I imagine everyone saw the blue lights/balloons that were always over the playa at night but on one night they took the strand and hooked it up the the man in the middle of the heart. Was VERY cool.
Can see the lights below but they aren't hooked up to the heart yet.
