Enough with talking about the Russians already. Those new F35's will not protect Canada against Russian attack in time of peril, because as exraver said it - those bombers can release their payload 3,000 miles away. When F18's will reach the end of their life service, then we can start talking about upgrading. Its the taxpayer money we are talking about here.
If it is going to be invested in military, it should be invested in more important things, like ships to better protect the Arctic, patrol boats to patrol Canada's vast water boundary, to build and support bases up North.
All this is, its a clever lobby by military-industrial complex and folks to get Canadian government to buy into this fear mongering campaign and waste taxpayer money, while these planes will not amount to much use (scrapping the perfectly functional F18's). They will never see their full battle potential but will rather be used for casual scrambles, escorts and training. Thats some dam expensive toys! |

| Seriously enough of this crap. I hope we aren’t as dumb as the Americans just falling for everything the all mighty Government tells us. I have a feeling that this government is trying real hard to shift attentions from more important things that actually matters in this country. |
