sound card question

I come from the dj booth...

I posted this question there, but it's been pretty dead lately so I'm going to post it here since you guys can easily relate to it.

on my old pc I had purchased a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4 that I used to record my sets with the RCA line-in jacks. Everything was fine with XP until the switch over to Vista/7. Drivers didn't work, and though Creative still makes new drivers that are supposed to fix everything, it just doesn't work the same.

My new computer has audio integrated into the motherboard, and includes a line-in mini jack. Would I lose a lot of quality going from a standalone soundcard to using an RCA to mini adapter on an integrated soundcard?

I also use Traktor Scratch Duo which comes with the Audio4. I know that recording via traktor is disabled (unless you got the pro version), but is there anything possible I can do with that?

yes. If you have a pci slot, get an intro m - audio card. Might cost you a hundred or so. Will have stable drivers and much better performance than what you have right now.

id recommend an outboard soundcard connected with usb or firewire. the alternatives are alot more and better quality.

Internal pci / pci x are always more stable and less prone to clicks than usb/firewire. You don't have to worry about bandwidth.

line-in jack of integrated card is no good? (just to save me $100 :p) remember, this is strictly for djing and recording that... not for production. not saying that I don't care if it sounds like rubbish, but I'm assuming you guys like 100% pure, perfect quality which I would think isn't AS necessary as for what I'd need it for.

in any case, if it is rubbish, does this look yummy?

anyone have any experience with this? (mainly if it's win7 64 bit friendly?)

I'm about to go for dinner, so I haven't researched it yet, but plan on doing so when I get back. just wondering if anyone has had any personal experience here.

that will suit your needs fine. Great value for the price. And m audio is very good at keeping their drivers up to date.
