Well, I decided to randomly check these out for the hell of it. What else should a man do when its Friday afternoon and no one is picking up their phones :rolleyes: ? haha.
Anyways:
Wolfgang Voigt's new release on his own Kompakt label showcases two average minimal tunes. The first of the polar opposing emotionies, "Apathie", begins its monotonous journey with some high pitched bells and chugging percussion. It then seems to die slowly from here, with zero new elements being introduced. Boring overall! Next up is "Empathie", whose percussion reminds me of the simultaneously melodic yet rhythmic timbre of Blue Man Group PVC pipe drumming. The more upbeat nature of this B-side sparks my interest unlike the dull jingles of the previous piece. The dark strings even provide character to the relatively unfocused atmosphere; but similar to its A-side kin, the song suffers from directionless and a lack of genuine excitement.
