Here's an example. The bass drops in at 1:18

I would love nothing more than to be able to make something remotely like this. Does anyone know how to make these kind of epic basslines? I've been trying but don't necessarily know what to do. |

do you own sylenth? although i'm almost 100% sure this was done w/ the powercore virus.
initialize everything.
1 osc, with 1 voice set to a narrow pulse width, phase to 360 . looks like
______ _____________

| | |
| | |
|___| |
(ascii win?)
play it low, F1 ish... then add EQ and a bit of overdrive/distortion(not a fan of sylenth's so maybe something like camelphat, etc).
that's it bro!
edit: why is my ascii looking like a penis.
refer to the last one in this pic:

Yeah pulse waves are the best, my personal favorite is just a simple 25% wave from magical8bit plugin:

Just some compression and sidechain, that's it. Obviously this was thrown together very quickly just to show what pulse waves can sound like. |

| Thank you for the reply. I tried doing that and got something similar, although not quite as dynamic. I suppose nothing beats practice. |

Nice! A bit better than what I managed. I'll probably have it figured it out by the weekend reasonably well. |

Like I said, it was thrown together very quickly, and there's no portamento option in the plugin.
Glad you guys like the effect though |

| sounds like a nice plugin. sylenth is beautifully easy but lacks quality imo, esp. for basses |
