In my experience, the only time a guy confessed his feelings for me was when he wasn't sure if they're reciprocated. When I am attracted to someone, I normally make it rather obvious, so he's confident enough to just go in for the kill.. the kiss, and skip the small talk, because there is no need for it as our actions speak so much louder than words could.
In any case, I don't mind either way. I find it adorable when they speak of their feelings.

If there's one thing I've learned during my experience courting women, you NEVER tell her how you feel about her before she tells you how she feels first. Never. you come off as desperate, and women want guys they can't have. When you confess your love, your odds of dating/sleeping with her are slim to none.. unless she's a "grenade" to quote a popular TV show.
Even if I really like a girl, and would consider dating her, I will kinda brush her off until I know she's obssessed with me...
If you have the mentality that you are the prize and not the woman, your luck with women will increase ten fold.

And Wai, I think it just means that he doesn't share the same worries and concerns you girls usually have. I wouldn't be at all offended because I have a very masculine taste regarding women too.
Hell, if it were up to me, women would all wear trainers and cargo pants. Just because I abhor high heels and girly clothes in general, does that mean you should be offended by fashion sense? Not at all!
