Hi all, i realise technically this isn't DJ promotion so feel free to move it mods, but i figured it was the most relevant forum for what im asking so we'll see how it goes i guess :cool:
I am a university student from Melbourne, Australia. And am doing a project for my music subject where we have to go out and "sign" an artist to use one of their songs to put onto a cd (amongst songs from other students and their artists), get it pressed, market it, hand it out etc. and enter into an international competition across 73 countries. As it is a university project, it is fairly obvious why we cannot offer money in exchange for the right to use peoples work, we can only offer a bit of exposure which is why we seek people that would like such exposure and wouldn't mind letting us use the song for free, i.e people trying to get signed etc. as this would be a good opportunity to get one of your songs somewhere.
This is why i am here, i am a massive Trance fan and my teacher recommended i try chase something i'm interested in, so here it is.
Let me be clear by saying the contract we get you to sign (should anyone be interested) is completely nonexclusive and nonrestrictive. It is merely to tell us that your work is either original or that you have the 100% right to give us the OK to use the song (so we don't breach anyone's copyright) and allow us to press it and market it hassle and lawyer free.
If you wish to look further into it please don't hesitate to let me know as soon as possible (just PM me) as i am on a fairly strict timeline. If not, not to worry.
I have heard some brilliant songs on here, you guys appear to be quite talented.

Oh and also, it shouldn't matter if you are an international, i believe people have worked around it in the past. I have much more information about this project for anyone that's interested. This is not a con and we do not intend to steal anyones music etc. Only to help them
