i sent a new track to the big labels.
as in Armada, Vandit, Ajuna etc.

Not one of them actually listened to the song..
i put it up on speedyshare and it has not been downloaded ONCE!

Thats ty when they say yehh we listen to everyone.

MY ASS you do!

rant over.

edit: ill add that it sucks.. you work so hard on tracks because you REALLY want them signed by one of these big labels
- The ultimate goal.
and they dont even listen

I know Anjuna has their own uploader, and they require a text file that's the same name as the MP3 to be uploaded with it with details about the track or they won't download it. So, I'm not sure how you managed to pull that one off.

I'm not sure how the others work. Did you even read their terms? You either blatantly ignored Anjuna's or didn't actually send it to a bunch of big labels, quit getting butthurt over it and send it to other labels if you feel like you're being ignored. Posting here certainly isn't helping anything.

you make it sound like they owe you something.

yeh I should have said I didn't know about Ajuna.. because of the uploader..

and your an idiot.. why would I be pissed off at the big labels not downloading and listening to it if I never sent it to them in the first place..

I wanted to vent and see if people had similar experiences. obviously you don't so politely F*** off.

no all i was saying is that those big labels say we are more than happy for you to send them in we listen to every single one.
but they dont and i dont think that is right when they promote the fact that they do.

I was about to ask the same. Considering the amount of crap that gets sent to i.e. Anjuna in a month, I highly doubt they listen to every single one of them. I think even smaller "labels" such as internet collectives etc. don't listen to all demos that get submitted.

At least for me they all seem so out of reach, I wouldn't even give a try.

Don't most labels say no to download links from these sort of sites, and ask you to upload to them directly?
Lolo
john,

let's put the problem under a different light for a second.

Some may say that as a label I'm shooting my own foot but I think the exact opposite.

Why don't you just show off people DIRECTLY who you are and what you do musically? You are the person in control, not the label. The time you are talking about is OVER mate. Labels don't rule anything, nothing's under control!

Don't rely on labels anymore for doing this in your place. They either have limited space for promotion and PR or else they don't care about the music and its terrible state right now.

The Internet is the plague and the salvation of the music industry at the same time. Just keep in mind that there are tools you can use at your own advantage, like the ability to remain silent artistically and use all bells and whistles when you have something to sell.

Be creative in how you sell stuff to people and you will see, you will also feel a lot more confident. Forget your fears mate, really, the top 5 artists have nothing more than you do! If you think they do well it's all fake, really.

lolo im in love with your planisphere work! :gsmile:

Like the cliche saying they always say: it's who you know that counts. Luck and your skill have a lot to do with it too, but I do think who you know and who you network with matters a lot. It sucks, but if you want to get heard, you have to bring your non-musical talents to the table to get heard. I hate that part about music, I just want to make songs. :(

It's a vicious loop too. You want to get heard, but those big labels will only listen to you if you have some type of name, but you don't even have a name yet so you won't get heard. If we look at the micro level, you have had at least one gig before you get a gig. It's like getting a job, to get somewhere, you have had to been somewhere in the first place.
