alright let me attempt a proper review here...
got to mansion around 11:30 and got in pretty quickly even though there was a bit of a line. it wasnt too packed when we got in and yousef was already on warming up nicely. yousef kept the tempo pretty low at the beginning but towards 12:15ish he really started kicking it up and dropped some absolute stormers.
first thing i noticed when i was walking around is that they had led screens again!!! ing sick. 3 huge ones behind the booth and 1 in front of the booth. if i had to guess i'd say they are carl cox's leds because all the visuals were custom to carl cox. even some cool custom halloween ones.
place really started filling up and there were tons of people in costumes. totally awesome atmosphere. in addition to the led screens they had some nice halloween decorations all around.
so at about 1 or a little after maybe like 1:15 we noticed carl cox entering the booth. HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE surprise for him to come on at 1. his first half hour and esp his first 2 tracks were beyond sickness. im not good with ids but they were both in the sets i posted previously. i got vids of course. :) cox dropped it so nasty for the first hour and then let off the gas just a little bit to let people breathe. he was still ripping it but here and there there were a few not so hot tracks. a few too gay and a few fillers but overall it did not deteriorate the quality of the set one bit! i know this show was expensive as but it was worth EVERY penny! the music, the vibe, everything was almost perfect last night. we ended up leaving around 4 which was like 20 mins before he finished.
i PRAY mansion brings carl cox back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also best costume award goes to the guy who was wearing the michael phelps swim cap walking around with a bong! :stongue:

Amazing night. Got there @ 1:30 & Cox had just started. The place was packed. So many people were dressed up & acting the part in full character just going crazy. The vibe & energy in that room was awesome & WMC-like. The lighting, visuals & sound were all set up right as well. IMO that big dark room was perfect for a Cox show & reminded me of when he used to play @ Crobar back in the day. As for TAs, I only saw Pat & his wifey out & it was nice to see them having a good time as well.
On to Carl Cox, IMO he ripped it last night. A perfect blend of funky upbeat house, beat driven tech-house and some nasty techno thrown in for good measure. The set had a great flow & progression. Last night he proved he is a true master of continually building up a room & the energy with very danceable funky rhythms, only to massacre the room when the breakdowns & massive basslines came in. As much as I love trance and Markus' set @ Dream during WMC, last night may have been the best set I have witnessed live this year. Cox played until 4:30, then Yousef took over and kept it banging, although Cox stayed up in the booth until the party ended at 5:15. It was so good that the place was still full when it ended.
Bottom line after last night Mansion has to bring back Carl Cox early & often :D

It was a great night, i will post videos as I get them, he definitely had a lot of crowd stomping tracks in there.
I have not been to mansion since WMC 2009 for Sasha and Digweed and I definitely noticed a lot of new things since then
-the LED curtain, seems more permanent and there was someone that put in the custom graphics for it ahead of time. I saw the guy controlling it and it seemed like just as much work as controlling an on the fly laser show
-Funktion 1 sound, so good sounding that they still had the EAW avalon speakers hanging but not even turned on. Very impressive to see another club in the states move up to this speaker
-LED track-spots, these gave a great effect
-Halloween themed decor
-better running door, no door politics when I came in at 12:30
-no laser, they used to have one and the bounce mirrors are still placed for them. Maybe they didnt have the proper paperwork to have a laser
Still a great club now and now I am kind of down that I missed Paul Van Dyk there.

I went to Toronto for my big black Cox, and really considered getting on a plane to come home to see him at mansion, but didn't damn it! I can't get enough of him!
Cox was great in TO. I heard about his show canceling in Montreal on Friday so I was a bit scared but he went on at 2:30 and was suppose to be done at 5 but was still playing when I left at 5:15. Cox is the man. Don't ask me to ID either, all I know was it was fun, not like Ultra because it's a totally different scenario but fun nonetheless!
Lawler was also killing it before Cox went on, so I think I'm going to go see him on Friday :)
