Silk Textures welcomes Hungarian deep house maestro Adam Byrd, whose sophisticated and sexy grooves have delighted fans for several years now. "Imaginary Friend" derives its name from a cinematic dialogue sample, just one of many intriguing effects utilized throughout the track to create a soundscape of "film noir." Jazzy percussion and a haunting saxophone part further enhance the atmosphere. On the heels of his acclaimed "Sensual Season" EP, Quarrel offers a splendid remix, as enchanting and evocative as the original. A steady groove carries the tune to the break, at which time the seductive saxophone solo is highlighted. In the second half of the EP, Byrd offers "Emotion," which features a soulful female vocal sample throughout. Synth stabs and delicate, yet uplifting melodies reinforce the positive vibe of the track. Finally, returning Silk Textures contributors Salt Sweet round out the EP, with the most upbeat, dancefloor-friendly take in the package. Their 'Progressive' Remix features a much more aggressive rhythm, as well as a more potent bassline. Yet, they stay "true" to the original, as synth elements and echoes of the original vocal can be heard throughout.
