Hello! I've been posting alot in the production forum trying to give advice when I feel like I might have some to give and taking alot of notes :p
My first steps into producing were about 4 years ago with reason 2.5 and then cubse, ableton, back to cubase and now I'm working with logic and have never been happier. I've been learning about music theory lately, I feel like it's all slowly coming together, hence this post my first ever shared audible noise that is trying to resemble something musical.
The track still has work to be done I need alot more percussion and one shots going on but the foundation is there I think. Every new project I feel gets better and better but I have a tendency not to finish anything just get it almost there, and then start something new. Hopefully with some advice from fellow EDM producers I can polish this turd and move onto my next project with some new knowledge :)
128 BPM early hour prog that's trying to be a little melodic
The sample is about 4 mins and stops shortly after the breakdown hits. How do the sounds fit together? What would you change if anything? Does it suck balls? Do you like cookies? Opinions both negative and positive welcomed as that's how we learn :)
dont think it sucks balls at all dude, you listen to a lot of this music ya? keep comparing! you definitely need more percs(check out the percs in the tracks you buy, or my tracks here), if i were you i would use a thicker hi hat, but essentially i shouldn't be telling you that. finish this up bro, add more atmosphere and fx, try to get the elements a tad louder and even using up more width with delay and reverb. looking forward to hearing the final product.

Completely agree with msz there. Sounding pretty good, just needs a few tweaks here and there. Nice melody, cannot fault that at all. But for sure needs a bigger hat sound. ;)

Have to agree with what the others have said. Don't give up on this tune. The lead sounds a little harsh and the kick seems a little under-represented, but other than that, nice first showing! Hell of a lot better than my first showing.

What the other have said. To add beef up the bass as its fairly quiet. Lead is nice, will be a nice mellow track once done. Good luck

Thank you for the replies! I have added some hats and beefed up the kick. Also worked a little on the breakdown, still working on the buildup. Not super happy with the kick variation, I think I need to mess with the velocity a little - does it sound muddy to you when the kick goes into the variation?
I mix with my kick super low then bring it up when I bounce to audio but forgot to bring up my level on the first bounce, oops. This second mix should sound a little more heavy in the lower end.
I appreciate the feedback as this is my first shared production and I'm very self conscious about letting others listen to what I'm working on.

The hi-hat is ultra harsh. I would suggest keeping it, lowering it by about 3db, and then layering it with a hat at least one full octave lower.
The low end is absolutely beautiful. Pristine. Wonderful clarity in the upper-mids in both kick and bass-line - actually sounds quite professional. Kick roll was well executed, too.
Musically, this is quite original. I don't really know what your voice is, but you seem to have one showing in this song.
There's some clicking - it sounds like a kick, possibly, that seemed a little atypical in the mix, starting around 4:47.
Really, apart from the hats and the click, this mix really nails it, man. Nice work. Clean it up and call it a song! Get started on a new one.

This is the perfect track to listen to as i have just taken a diazepam :)

hi kevin.. i think the idea/thought behind the track is good..i like the synths..i think the kick and bassline could use a tad more variation..overall decent effort mate.. keep em tunes comin.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Fixed the hats, they were a little rough on the ears on second listen as someone had mentioned.
Calling it done and moving on to a new project, everyones comments have been invaluable in helping me and my self esteem :)
