What's with Go Ventures this year? Love Festival Vegas had a great lineup, but LoveFest LA has pretty much NO trance, and now Monster Massive looks practically trance-less, too. |
Big props to Reza for going with more mature music, not just what the little kids want. There is so much more to EDM than just trance.
Cox, Digweed, Lawler, Felix...sounds like a good time to me. |

Yeah, Monster Massive just doesn't look like it's worth the admission price this year. I mean, Gareth is great, but he alone isn't reason to go.

I mean the MM 2009 videos of Armin look amazing, but... without a huge trance DJ, this year isn't going to be like that.
At least Insomniac is showing trance some love with EDC/Nocturnal.
I hope TAO books some good talent this year. It won't be Armin, since he's scheduled to perform in some other country on NYE. |
love festival has always been mainly a house event hasnt it? well monster has gtr, judge jules, and digweed who are mostly trance djs. but yeah, not really amped to see them. agreed, if tao doesnt have an amazing trance lineup, i probably wont go. really looking forward to armin only next year though! |

Monster Massive normally has "big-name" trance DJs, though, doesn't it?
Nice way to be insulting, though. Pardon be for not being "mature" by liking the music you like. Let me go listen to my "for the kids" trance music, with its "lame" emotional melodies, and inspiring sounds.
For the record, I like all kinds of EDM, but trance is easily my favorite. The forum is called "Trance Addict", after all. MM does appear to have a good lineup, but not one that appeals enough to me to warrant the price of admission.
I only recently moved to LA. As such, I've only seen videos of past Monster Massives, and they all seemed to include trance headliners. I was simply wondering why this year appears to be different.
P.S. In my experience, kids want dubstep and electro, not trance. Trance is quickly becoming the least popular form of EDM in the United States. It manages to stay popular in California, but not in many other places. |

trance is definitely the least popular, and all the kandi, bandana around the face wearing kids doing the shuffle at raves are all into dubstep, d&b, and electro.
definitely skipping out on monster massive this year, but nocturnal looks amazing w markus schulz and ferry corsten so looking forward to that. |

Yeah it really is unfortunate seeing as how I do not like Electro and dubstep at all. Listening to it at home can be okay but live it's just a ton of bass to the head (which, of course, explains why young kids on drugs enjoy it).
Whatever, I'm getting more into the club scene anyway. Keep the trance guys coming to the clubs and the occasional massive and I'll be happy. More Shrine/Palladium solo events would be cool too - Tiesto, Ferry, Markus, Armin, etc. with supporting trance acts.
Hoping for an ASOT party for 500...
and to the above posts:
Digweed is far from trance. Judge Jules and Emery are, that's basically it. And don't come on the tranceaddict forum and celebrate the death of trance at massives. For Monster Massive, Carl Cox, Steve Lawler, and Digweed make sense because they play some dark tech and tribal stuff which is perfect for the halloween theme. Reza makes total sense with his choices; but it would still be cool to have some trance! Regardless, Tiesto is coming for Halloween so hopefully I'll be able to get my fix. |

Yeah, because I just moved out here, I'm doing it in backwards order. Nocturnal will hopefully be my first ever massive, but I've been going to clubs since I was 18. (I turn 26 next week)
It seems like the older crowd prefers going to clubs, but I can't resist the idea of seeing my favorite DJ (Ferry) at a huge massive. I've always seen those events on YouTube and stuff and been envious of the people that get to go, so I'm looking forward to it. :-)
Back to MM, I'll say again I think it's a good lineup, it just doesn't look like my cup of tea. Well, not for the price, anyway. |

I dont think he meant to insult anyone. He was trying to say kids 14-18ish all have heard of Tiesto, Armin, PVD so they see that as headliner theyll wanna go, but im pretty sure to them Cox, digweed, and lawler isnt as attractive proposition to them |

Little kids want trance? You're a moron (nothing personal). Last time I checked most "little kids" want electro and house. Now they're getting off to dubstep. If you're trying to say trance draws a younger crowd.... Then you're missing brain cells, sorry :( |

Not really, if you look back in history they have usually had a good mix and have even been more house/prog focused before.
Trance has been featured mainly on the main stage the last few years, but at the same time they've really expanded the house presence starting with having big side stage outside to having the Sports of Arena being the "House of Doom." The main "Toom of Doom" stage was moved outside last year.
Anyhow, the whole damn arena was still a house room. I wouldn't say house was def taking a back seat to the trance or anything. |
