Let me know what you think.

What i should change and which elements of the track work well.

Enjoy

There's some nice melodic elements to the track.

Sounds like it was mixed on headphones or hifi speakers as the top and bottom end is a little narrow.

You may find layering up sounds more can provide a richer overall effect, and also make EQ'ing a little easier too as you have more control over the different parts of a layer.

Perhaps use a wider reverb or some ping pong delay as well as panning out some of the layers you may add, the mix sounds a bit mono at the moment.

To my ears the kick is just wrong, but personal preference and all! ;)

Maybe slacken off the release of the ducking compressor too, those pads are feeling a little rushed.

wow i have a lot to learn.

When layering do you propose i eq each layer at different high, low and mid frequencies?

Also you are saying that if i lay off the compression of the strings they will sing more.

The kick choice was just laziness.

thanks for all the great advice

Also this was very well spotted but what do you mean by this?

Well you don't HAVE to EQ each layer, but i've always found that a if I want a bass sound that has a deep bottom end with a plucky topend the only way to get there is to layer it, and you then have individual EQ control (and other FX too, what if you want to distort the bottom and not the top end?) if you need it.

For the strings, if you increase the release time on the compressor you'll find the 'pump' will be a bit slower and may suit the track better. Same with the attack, just experiment and see what sounds best.

As for spotting the hifi mix it's all about the colouration it gives the sound. A hifi speaker generally (although not always) boosts the high and low frequencies so you hear stuff that isn't really there. When that mix is played on other systems it tends to be a bit flat because you've under mixed those parts.

This track has alot of potential, the sounds are there but the mixing not so much. And I agree that kick has got to go.

A little more sidechain to get the (new) kick to come through your musical elements and get some of those higher frequencies in check....Sounds really hot on the high end to my ears.

Totally have some potential here with this track, keep at it I look forward to hearing it updated :)

like it. for me hats could have something more.. maybe bit of 1/16th echo, or layered slightly... also feel break needs more atmosphere. more filter sweeps, reverbs etc.. really put me in the zone.

not a fan of kick and snare, but maybe matter of taste.

some more interstgin transitions between choruses, like a drum roll or uplifters and downlifters, or reverse crashes etc...

also on being lazy. I was like that for years, but you really got to put the time into a track. No good thinking it sounds 'ok' and copy and paste everything. some tracks take a year to make! if you want to get serious with music, become a perfectionist. best advise I ever got.
