Questions about finding parking

Hey,

A big group of friends and I will be driving from Ottawa for EZ and we're debating a few parking options but we aren't sure what the best idea is. We found some parking garages around the hostel we'll be staying at (corner of 1st Ave & E 105th Street) on nyc.bestparking.com. We can make reservations at some of them but the ones with the best price are space permitting only. Is it safe to assume there'll be space or do parking garages tend to fill up in that part of town? We'd be arriving on the Friday in the afternoon.

Thanks!

Thanks, but that's just as good as the website I had before. My question is whether we should risk trying to save money by not making a reservation.

My honest opinion is to park outside of Manhattan if possible and take trains/cabs from there to wherever you have to go.

It ends up costing about the same amount and you dont have to worry about getting your car towed.

Mine got towed one night at Love and i barely made it home lol.

Drive to the venue and utilize the vehicle while you are in town (it beats paying for parking and then cabs on top of it), there is paid parking at the venue. The earlier you get there the better your spot will be. Last year I got a spot right across from the entrance.

In the area where you are staying just pay attention to street signs, if you don't mind walking a couple of blocks you can get free parking. If you have a super nice car then I recommend parking garage. Otherwise the street is fine as long as u follow the regulations and make sure to move it on time if need be. The traffic cops will ticket you for a fraction of a second if they arrive before you.

There are plenty of parking garages to go around, if the one if you arrive at is full there is likely one under a block away from it that isn't.

I would make a reservation now.

Labor Day is a big travel weekend and I'm sure NYC will be mobbed with tourists as usual. You're going to be spending a lot of money as is coming down here for the festival, so you might as well splurge and get the parking to play it safe.

Also NYC Cabs are a bigtime ripoff. Most cab drivers I've ridden with recently take longer routes to increase your fare and the pricing is ridiculous.
