Chopin has come a long way since his humble beginnings as a DJ back in 2002. Born and raised in Montreal, Chopin began his career at the age of 16, gradually paving a road to some of the hottest dancefloors in the city. Rising calmly yet fiercely to take his place among Montreal's legendary House music family, he has gained the support of fans, promoters and DJs alike. Ever-changing in his style and sound on the decks, those who listen intently to Chopin's music are in for a sweet surprise.
His first experiences during the rave scene of the 1990's inspired him to become a DJ and producer. Playing a constant flow of uplifting, rhythmic House with a Techy edge, DJ Chopin's sets resound with fat basslines, kicking high hats and rolling tech grooves. Phonic's explosive and dynamic energy can be felt in his music and his style is defined by an ear for what pleases the crowd.
“I always try to create this particular energy that will keep people dancing and asking for more. I try to show the crowd my vision of House music while rocking a dancefloor,” Phonic states.
Chopin has also ventured into production with his new label, Catch 33 Recordings. Founded by (names) in (year), he hopes to illuminate the music world with his edgy techno house grooves. Fresh of the presses this year will be his first two remix singles, “I'm Going to Party” by DJ Rulz ft. Deep Dub (Chopin Remix) and “Sintetica” by M.A.Z.7 (Phonic Remix).
Chopin will be shaking up dancefloors in both Montreal and Quebec City this year. Creating an undeniable energy that connects him to any crowd, his relentless appeal will surely be felt as he carves a niche for himself in the electronic music scene.
Chopin en a fait du chemin depuis ses débuts comme DJ en 2002. Ce natif de Montréal a débuté dans le métier à l’âge de 16 ans en gravissant patiemment chacun des échelons. Aujourd’hui, il se classe parmi les plus grands du House. Son style est unique, sa musique est différente, ses tables nous tire le sang des veines.
Jonathan Chopin a une énergie qui se libère dans des rythmes saisissants et dans des basses qui sont loin d’être innocentes... Chopin passe par les tripes. C’est dans les années 90, quand les raves étaient encore underground, qu’il a compris que c’est ce qu’il devait faire; une inspiration qui l’a mené directement à la production.
« Mon but est simple, dit-il, je veux voir des corps danser, des yeux fermés, des bulles flotter sur un plancher que je fais vibrer au son du House… c’est ma vision de la création. »
Également connu aussi le pseudonyme de Phonic, Chopin s’est récemment lancé dans la production sous le label Catch 33 Recordings, encore une fois, en voulant créer une atmosphère progressive sur des grooves techno house. Cette année, deux de ses singles sont mis en marché, un remix I'm Going to Party de DJ Rulz ft.. Deep Dub (Chopin Remix) et Sintetica de M.A.Z.7 (Phonic Remix), qui vient tout juste de sortir.
2010 est l’année Chopin. Montréal et Québec, c’est au son pénétrant de Phonic que ça se fera entendre.
