blkmarket isnt running every party though.....so it won't be a blkmarket crowd every night. Saturday's crowd will be more mainstream. Taimur said it's possible they might dip into other genres in due time, I think dubstep was mentioned. I can see someone like j00f there, we'll see. |
I know that blk|market isn't running every party, and of course the crowd is going to be mainstream, it's right in the middle of Manhattan and all sorts of people from across the tunnel are going to want to go to the new club on the weekend. Still, don't you think Blk|Market's mailing list is going to come into play for most nights @ D36?
Taimur is the creative director after all, so I would expect a house- and techno-heavy lineup (like what is out so far). He did say *might*though about bringing other genres.
This week I had a conversation about music @ D36 with someone who is involved and it seems that they're not thinking about trance too much as of now. Time will tell, I guess.
One thing is for sure, they are really trying to open a week before Sasha so that night isn't too much of a cluster (which prob will be anyway). |

Interesting you guys all feel that way... I think it's because I'm like 5 minutes from a really Russian neighborhood, so anyone around here that knows EDM has probably had a friend nearby spoon-feed them the beautiful music that is Moonbeam haha.. I would love to hear a 6 hour Moonbeam set in a warehouse that spans all genres! |
hey, I think they are as talented as any dj / producer act playing NYC nowadays. But they produce a sophisticated version of trance that I don't think enough people have caught onto yet. Hopefully that changes though. Would be amazing to have them here at some point. |

I can't wait til Sankeys opens too. Hopefully between these two, they won't be toooooo crowded. I hate when a club is jammed packed, nowhere to move and nowhere to dance. |
I'm curious what kinda competition Sankey's will be giving. From the club's reputation and current lineups, it seems they'll just be feeding New York more of what we have: New York DJs, and lineups you can typically see at Pacha or Cielo. D36 seem to be in the clear because they're bringing something totally different that. Let's hope it's as cool as we all hope it is going to be! |

I don't think the blkmarket list will be used outside of the blkmarket parties there. I think that crowd will come on Fridays regardless. Saturdays will be more mainstream in comparison, not like this place will attract hip hop fans from the burbs just because its a new club, the talent on Saturdays is not even mainstream in the Edm world. |
