Apparently Ibiza is on fire this year. Literally.

Over 1,200 people have been evacuated from a beach in Ibiza as every firefighter on the island battled to control a rapidly spreading fire.
The partygoers had gathered on the beach in Benirras bay but they were evacuated on Sunday evening, some by boat, after they risked being cut off by the flames.
The fire covered an area of at least 100 hectares in the north of the Balearic Island.
Ibiza's whole firefighting force was drafted in to help beat the blaze and reinforcements also came in from the neighbouring island of Majorca.
Eleven aircraft also helped with the firefighting operation by dropping water on the fire and damping down afterwards.
There were reports of some people having minor injuries but it is not known what caused the injuries.
Around a dozen homes near the beach were also evacuated, while public television TVE reported that the fire had reached a car park, with up to 20 cars caught by the blaze.
Authorities said evacuation by sea was necessary as the beach was so hard to access.
The fire is thought to be one of the worst in recent times on the Mediterranean island. |
