Death to Vinyl – make your ashes into a record

The company “And Vinyly” will take your charred remains and press them into your own death vinyl. You can use a personalized message, your own music, or any recording that is 24 minutes in length or less to create an enduring record (pun intended) of you for your loved ones.

The company was founded by Jason Leach, who co-founded the techno group and record label Subhead in the 1990s. They say:

“When the album that is life finally reaches the end wouldn’t it be nice to keep that record spinning for eternity? We offer you the chance to press your ashes in a vinyl recording your loved ones will cherish for generations. Record a personal message, your last will and testament, your own soundtrack or simply press your ashes to hear your pops and crackles for the minimal approach.”

The starter kit comes with your own custom-painted gravestone-style cover art, 24 minutes of audio of your choosing, and 30 copies of your final release. They’ll even put distribute it to record stores for a fee. They will accept (creamated) body parts if you’d like to be (mostly) buried.

At 2000 euros, it’s not exactly cheap, but definitely cool. Find out more at their website.

Live from beyond the groove!
