Last night pretty much summed up how amazing our locals (and international local) are. |
Mos def. In addition to a slew of others of course. But the Junkies and Roaches ripped it and deserve all the accolades they get. There were moments that made me feel incredible pride that they represent Toronto underground house when they spin outside this city.
This party rocked because the crowd that showed up were just as up for it as the DJs - and created a stellar vibe to make it a memorable night. Sexy girls doing their thing, funky guys and girls feeding off each other and the DJs taking it to the next level creating virtual insanity.
Music highlight for me was what I swear I thought was some track that had the same rhythm or feel as Zeppelin's 'Black Dog'. I wanted to belt out my best Robert Plant impression and scream
"Hey, hey, mama, said the way you move, gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove.
Oh, oh, child, way you shake that thing, gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting.
Hey, hey, baby, when you walk that way, watch your honey drip, can't keep away"
However, I only could manage my best Jimmy Page air guitar, and Jon Bonham drum roll. It's a good thing we can't burn like in days of yore as the rest of you were spared a brutal rendition of said classic. A few hauls and I would have gone even more mental than all the whisky and cleanest MDMA I've done in years did for me that night.
A great night, however, is not without those random chance meetings with a cast of characters coming out of left field. Kirsten - or Kristen? - was a riot breaking some guy's balls encouraging him to go for the easy pickings and take home the guy passed out in the alley. I love your sass, but I'm still trying to figure out if you are the fag hag I initially pegged you for - no offence, or if Ian really was your boyfriend and not your gay friend looking out for you. My head was spinning trying to figure that one out. No offence Ian if you really are her straight boyfriend - I get mistaken for being gay sometimes too, and it's no sweat off my back.
Then there was the white guy who insisted he was half Filipino, and of course I thought he was trying to have a laugh at my expense. Good thing the alcohol was giving way to the MDMA and we left in good spirits. We talked rugby because he had the perfect build for a hooker, and though he never played the game I'm sure he'd have sex for money given the chance. And he probably was half Filipino too.
Then there was Hugh, a sensible, not ed out of his gourd partier if there ever was one. At the end of the night I told him I was trying to figure out if I wanted go and refuel with some whiskey and head over to the zone for more debauchery, or just go home and leave the little function and clarity I had remaining so I could babysit my 3 year old niece for the weekend. Hugh put me on the path to righeousness and I'm sure my niece would say thanks because I actually had the energy to lift a finger the next day.
Finally, the security guys were all aces and cool dudes just doing their thing and letting everyone have a good time within limits. That guy passed out on the alley was escorted to the end of the street instead of carried out in a thug like fashion and dumped on his head. During one of my what can I get away with moments I lit a smoke and was politely asked to put it out as opposed to being dragged out the door and literally kicked out as has happened in some of my less dignified moments. John, Michael, Frankie, and Mike there's a 2-4 from me coming your way one of these days. Cheers all. |

LOL!! I love that Kristin's antics got their own review. Not shocked :haha: And for the record, Ian is def. straight. Those two were making out hardcore in the middle of our parking lot party last wknd, and it was awkward (for me). |

I 100% agree. Really unnecessary. |

I understand your viewpoint, but I say it to let others know where I'm coming from so my review is in the proper context - and be assured I know this is a public forum and I'm putting it out there. As for 5-0 chasing me down from a messageboard I've won some and lost some in past clashes and the game is the game. Cheers. |

I beg to differ. Honestly, if I just had a few beers and stayed within the law I definitely would not have had as good a time and felt the music to the degree that I did that night. Personally, I find it more offensive that people try to deny that this is part of the whole party experience. If you or anybody else reading this is straight edge then all the respect to you and all the more so if you enjoy house and other EDM without drugs. But, don't deny my right to express myself the way I see fit. Cheers. |

I think the point that's trying to made here, is that comments like that also reflect poorly on the club. Not JUST on you. |
