Using Live for post construction in FLstudio

| Just wondering if anyone does their edits in live after writing in FLstudio? |

| I do everything in Live. It seems like it's more popular to write in Live, and then mix into Logic or Cubase. |

But do you use FLstudio first?
I'm sure there are a lot of live users, but I'm wondering if anyone else uses FLstudio then edits/reworks the material in live. (eg. draft compositio in FLstudio, then remixing in live)
I'm particularly curious how loading vsts into live and how to go about importing midi files into live (if there is an easy way to do this other than reprogramming things loading presets etc.. working with raw samples /patterns is easy - however I find reprogramming can be daunting ---- also is there way to "cut sound in live like loopin gin Flstudio does to preserve sound feedback texturing?
You can slave FLstudio as a whole also however I'm wondering if anyone actually remixes from FLstudio in live.

Yes, in the export menu options, click split mixer tracks. Takes up a lot of space tho |

Why would you increase your workload by writing and mixing / sequencing in different DAW's??? Other than wanting to use Lives time stretching abilities(just a guess - I have never used it)
Surely the aim is to get a DAW which is sufficient for all you need?
If I'm missing something major, tell me, always up for improving production & work flow |

FL's undeserved reputation really impedes the quality of the sound coming out of the speakers. There's also the issue of price...
The top of the line version is 279...compare that to every other DAW and that's one of the cheapest next to Reaper.
Maybe that doesn't matter much because you can easily pirate whatever you want, but if you want to get "serious" it doesn't take as much. |

What workload? I do this stuff as a passtime.

I've been using FLstudio for so long it is just an extension of my writting process I find I am exposed to a lot more sounds and I can pull up stuff faster in fruity than in live. Much like cubase I find live to involve a lot more things to do to get the sound into the program.

Frankly FLstudio and live get different elements from me - live is way more linear in triggering patterns.. I write linear in fruity.. so pretty much it is just a stream of consciousness that has developed over time, I'll know where to take the track but I'm adjusting what is already there.. with live I can take the track and reconstruct it by mixing the elements more -
I can't do that to well in flstudio without making A LOT of patterns or mixing down loops etc.. anyway. Live presents a different angle.
I'm new to using live as a post writing tool, but I think it allows recording to be done with much more fluidity.
This record looked like reason to me... or perhaps like my suggestion to make reason more of a channel sequencer I'll have to check it out at some point - except I'm still using a 32 bit system - 64 bit is atually becoming standard now.......... I'm behind the tech curve ahhh. Maybe upgrade my system next year, maybe.
Hopefully that answers your question.
I'm one of the few poeple who write linear in FLstudio (hydrocrew was one of the only other people who wrote this way) |

Image Line needs to do 2 things in FLS 10:
1)Design a "Modern Skin" in which everything will look white and shiny like all the other DAWs...use those red Digital font (maybe they can make it blue:crazy: ).
2)Prove once and for all that FLS sounds exactly the same as all other DAWs: Pepsi tests with sound engineers and more aggressive advertising on the subject.
They should also change the defaults to: ASIO on the highest settings, the highest interpolation and the highest possible sample rate and then market FLS as "a high end DAW for High end systems".
Next step will be changing its name to something like: "Rational" or "sense". |
