Hey there people,
I'm running a competition to generate some content for InsideMixes. Here are three songs I love the sound of, which I'd like recreated:
Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes (Above & Beyond's Dynaglide Remix)
Super8 Vs Dj Tab - Helsinki Scorchin (Alex MORPH Remix)
The Doppler Effect - Beauty Hides in the Deep (John O'Callaghan Remix)

I'm looking for people to create mixes which sound identical to those songs (or as close as possible). Some of us may have the same sample packs as the above producers, or the same instruments. The final mix can be anywhere from a minute to the full length of the original song - potentially two or three minutes are plenty to capture the intro, breakdown and main sequence sections in abbreviated form.
**edit - two of the songs contain vocals - it's not necessary to record vocals in the recreation (though that wouldn't hurt - though you'd have to change the lyrics as well as the vocal melody). You can add in a synth part in it's place. The rest of the instrumentation sounds great, with or without the vocals.
The closest three mixes will receive $US125, $US100 and $US75 (one payment for the best version of each song). Only serious attempts will be considered. Song recreations are a great way to learn how songs are put together - I've learned a lot by doing it. In the end, it's not about specific sounds as much as it is about learning useful production methods, even for songs and sounds which sound quite different to the original.
The winning mixes will be uploaded to InsideMixes for sale - song packs include the full multitrack audio files, a PDF detailing all the
instruments, effects and settings used to create the sounds, plus other optional bonus materials. Payment will be made to the winners when the songs have been uploaded. The melodies of the uploaded songs will have to be changed enough that they don't infringe copyright. All other elements - drum sounds, basslines, chord progressions, can remain as they are. The competition winners will obviously get the revenue from their song sales in addition to their prize.
The timeframe is a month - the cutoff will be the first weekend of October.

I have a number of my own original and cover songs on there. You can listen to them by going into the songs directory and pressing the play button. You can click on a song to see the details of all the tracks in the multitrack file. As stated above, all songs come with a PDF detailing the instruments, effects and settings used to create the sounds (and the master channel processing). It would be fantastic to get some other producers on board to help people learn how to put great sounding music together. Everyone is welcome to upload their songs to the site, there are willing buyers!
