Everything I know about quantum mechanics I’ve learned from dumbed-down documentaries. And I still don’t get it.

I don't think anyone does :p
Though mystics really get on my when they say "quantum physics prove we are energy and we are all therefore just one".
God, even I feel like shoving a crystal down their throats! |

But you and I have breathed the same molecule of air - That's what they said. |

| Everyone wants to promote their idea. What better way than telling others that what they believed in isn't worth anything. Hawking surely knows what he's talking about, but there certainly are other factors weren't included. I guess there aren't many people (if any) that have both great physical/mathematical knowledge about the universe as well as great in depth spiritualism so that they offer a clearer, full perspective view on it all. |

I really don't get the scientific extremists. They're exactly the same as the religious extremists.
''Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist.''
Stephen Hawking.
sorry, but this makes no sense. If you want to prove you have siginificantly greater knowledge than your opponent ADMIT that it's UNKNOWN. We don't have to know everything ffs. We'll never Know how we got here, end of story.
Takes a far greater knowledge to admit ignorance than to claim to know everything, when everything is simply not knowable. |
You are aware that the few words you quoted are only a mere sentence out of an entire book that Hawking just co-authored and that will be released next week, right?
Also, it would seem that you failed to comprehend the basic premise of Hawking's book which is that an intelligent creator is not needed to create the universe, not that he has proof that such a being does not exist. You can find some solace in the fact that almost every half-wit assigned to cover the story failed to do so as well. |

Do you actually know enough about physics to say that definitively? Just about everything most people know about physics is an elided dramatisation of the raw calculations. |
Haha this is my exact problem though!! People claim scientific theories to be true, but they have no in idea abou WHY!
I'm talking about the layman 'atheist' who claims there is no god, but has views entirely based on someone else's views... just like religious people claim god is real cause of the bible :l |

I am, but like the extremists taking it out of context, I'm putting it into a context which suits my agenda ;) |

People who say things like these really get on my because it's just a gigantic platitude that is accepted as truth and has affected scientific progress negatively for way too long. Why assume that there is such thing as "spiritualism" in the first place that can offer truthful explanations in the first place?
Do you actually believe this or are you just being politically correct? |

Everything makes sense, only a mind that is unaccustomed to create meaning from nothing is unable to identify with the creation they are interacting with.

You mean you don't know? Are you suffering amnesia or something? Do you have no personality? No memories no beliefs. Arn't you quite the blank slate. Little bit of love and milk and you are good and ready for a cult.

Everything is known it is just prioritized by a number of factors to determine the paradigm shift applicable to yourself.

I don't that such a regard can be answered with a yes and no, not in my case anyway. I'm not refering to the religious aspects of spiritualism, neither have I done any reading on it, but from what it's been said to be there is some pretty deep, interesting literature about the spiritual enlightenment of the geto-dacs. So to answer your question: No, but I do keep an open mind. |
