Stockholm-based DJ and producer Mikael Jonasson makes his debut on 8 Sided Dice having previously dropped his tasty minimal, tech-house and techno treats on labels like Audiomatique, Harthouse and Railyard Recordings as well as his own imprint Koba Records; earning him support from electronic aficionados including Adam Beyer Paco Osuna and Dubfire
A signature track for some time for Alan Fitzpatrick, Absent Minded fits the no-nonsense, big-room techno template that 8 Sided Dice has become known for. Taking its foundation from a high-impact but steady groove the track builds; pulsing away relentlessly, punctuated by a haunting synth riff.
Water Proof sticks to a similar template; offering up plenty of energy via a punishing percussive groove while funkier elements are added with neatly layered effects and keys. The resulting epic makes for an on target compliment to the heavier a-side; completing a skilled EP of fresh techno.
