Ugly is in the eyes of the beholder. There are many beautiful things here, you just have to open your eyes, heart & mind to see & feel it. Lots of cool people no matter where they come from.

Oh, I agree, I just wanted to point out that there are a lot of ugly strip malls and poorly-maintained roads, which can make it look ugly at first glance, especially if you go straight from LAX to the 405.
Once you get off the freeways, though, there is a lot of beauty to be found. |

To make it here, you just need to learn one phrase- Go Lakers!
But you'll love it here, I wouldn't live anywhere outside Southern California. Unlike NY, you don't have to be a high roller to have fun at clubs. And believe it or not we have a subway-just one- but it gets you all over downtown and hollywood |

We have 5 subway/metro lines. 7 if you count the orange/silver (bus) lines. |

| Our subway is pretty much useless if you live outside of Hollywood/Downtown. The Gold Line is the longest one (I believe? It was extended right?) and it doesn't go anywhere useful. |

LA is great. We moved back to SF for 10 months and just had to come back. Once your here, you love it.
And you don't have to be a Lakers fan
