Dude I've never heard of "trancestep" before and this is for sure melodic DNB LOL
I like the idea, the track flowed nice and the vocals worked for me. Good effort for sure I look forward to hearing more from you :) |

This is very mich like UK hardcore and dub from the mid 90's, which is no bad thing btw.
I like the track and could see this going down well in the right track.
The D&B style perc is ok, but a little cliche dated sounded - bring up to date - and make it more definied and clean (personal tatste - I hate D&B drums when they sound too rocky).

Yeah, this tune seems to have taken the wrong turn somewhere in the equalisation, though I think I've improved a lot. Maybe I should also ditch the heavy use of drum loops, which is what I think must've bothered you, Richard.
In any case, Nik, this is sort of a defunct project, but I'm going to make an instrumental version when I get home. |

| Before you do anything, roll of the sub-sonics on the kick and/or bass, whichever is causing it (the offset is also present in the break). Also you can remove the clicks with an audio editor though it'd be quite a bit of work, so see if you can fix it at the source. As far as mastering goes, the amount of compression is alright, but why not limit afterwards? You could quite easily get 6 more dB out of this, but, as always, I recommend to leave mastering until the end. |

Nah, no need to do that just for me. I just cannot stand Rihanna at all.
The aforementioned clicks in the vocal tracks should probably be cleaned out, they sound like they're from a bad vinyl rip. Otherwise I don't really know what feedback to give you, really... |

Everything seemed fine up until about 3:30 where you started looping the vocals...and I stopped listening.
Sounds like DrumNbass for the most part. Intense beat and a big reesy bassline.
Trancestep; however, would involve a 1/2 step tempo reduction/drop + WOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBWOBBLE.
Seems like a solid idea overall, but the mix seems shallow and is not very engaging. (Lows/meds need attention and I'm not sure exactly in what way on the meds)
Vocals also get overly repetitive. If you're going to repeat her that much, you're going to need some actual lyrics in there I think, to hold down at least a 16 bar passage, otherwise you should look into doing some chop/verb/delay FX to spice things up.
Hope you keep on it, as it's got some potentials. Gl ;) |

| I liked it. Enough to listen to it twice. The drum programming/loop usage was superb considering where you are, as a producer, and, although it sometimes got repetitive, the arrangement was good. I think the bass in the kick could come up and it felt like there was some meat missing from the bass-line, as well. |

I've been working on these shortcomings lately: instead of using both a drum machine and the sampled loops, I decided to focus more on the synthesised sounds; and regarding the bassline, I've decided to use some heavy compression to buff it up, and I'm now experimenting with some sidechaining effects so it won't drown out the percussion.
I should have some new tunes in a couple of weeks, I hope. |

It was a neat piece of work but I thought it was called "Intellengent DNB" or is that a completely different genre from Melodic DNB? |
